I have no idea and I have no idea what to get my dd. I don't want to get her anything computery and I don't want anything with too many bits as they tend to get scattered. She has a younger 2 year old sister, might a large joint present be a good idea? Help!!!!!!!!!

Playmobil and more playmobil, sorry it has lots of bits but that's what DD loves. She gets the playmobil catalogue out and positively drools over everything in it. She's getting the grand mansion from us and the school from grandparents (both half price from damaged box sale).

I addition she'll get some new books and a couple of DVDs.

She got some playmobil last year and I took all the really tiny bits out and put them away, she only recently got them. She also has a box which all the bits are put into together at the end of the day, so they're not lying about as we also have a 1 year old. Generally she plays with it in her room and DS is not allowed in there!

A dolls house? It is a large present they could both share for a long time. Toys r us have several houses to suit different budgets

would they play with happyland stuff? although its targeted at a younger audience, DD still plays with hers alongside her other toys.

what about a bike/scooter/trampoline, something your other DD could benefit from in time?

a dolls house is a good idea.

What about a playhouse for the garden?

I'm thinking maybe of a dolls house, I could get a nice one if it was for both of them. Those micro scooters look good too but they are very expensive, does anyone know of a good alternative?

How about a dressing up box?

I also have 2 and 4 year old daughters and like to get them a big, joint gift. They got a dolls house last year and love it, they both play with it all the time. Ours is the elc mansion one so it's big enough for them both to play with, I'd def recommend it.

If they don't have a play kitchen that could be a good idea too? I'd love to get my girls a train set on a table this year but I don't have anywhere to put it!

Dd will have just turned 5 by Christmas, we are getting her a bike, as she has outgrown her trike a while ago she has been drooling over one that has a dolls seat on the back and glittery tassles on the handlebars.

That is her 'main' present, then she will ahve some smaller ones one and stocking fillers.

So far I have bought her the Happyland royal baby set (she still adores all her happyland), a leapfrog book for her e-reader, and Enchanted on dvd.

My 4yo DD will be getting an ace wooden Marble Run as shes really into them at the moment and trys to build ones with her Kapla (which is also a good idea for 4 & 2 yo IMO).
When DD1 was 4 at christmas she got a Maclaren Pram which is still getting played with everyday now.

She got the pink dollshouse last year from ASDA and she LOVES it. It is one of the few toys in our lounge and she plays with it a lot (although Peppa Pig characters live in it more than the wooden dolls we brought to go with it...). It was only £35 and is excellent value.

We actually bought the Toyrus one linked above but found the ASDA one much better so took the other one back.

When her (much younger) cousins come around, they also love the dolls house so definitely good for both of your DDs.

micro scooters are definitley worth the extra money,they are great quality and your younger one can use it when shes grown out of it.the cheaper versions break and dont look as stable.

hi op i also have a 2 & 4 year old im quite stuck on the 4 year old this year but one joint present ive decided on is a bouncy castle we have the space for it as the children have a huge playroom its something i keep getting asked for lol

My girls are both just younger than yours and as a joint present they are having a trampoline. The older one is also getting a marble run (idea from MN!), Gruffalo snap, an Orchard Toys game and other bits and bobs. Little one is getting a sand and water table and not sure what else. Her birthday is also in December so struggling a bit.

I love love love orchard games, even my youngest enjoys then, bless her, she tries to join in, she was trying to play that game where you put an object on your head and try to guess what it is earlier on.
The worst part of this is that...I run a toy shop, yet I still don't know what to get my own children. I don't let them get into any of the things I sell, I'm really wary of them getting spoilt and it would be easy to give them a toy here or there but I do have some lovely dolls houses in and a nice marble run, I hadn't even thought about a marble run but actually I think my eldest would get a lot out of it. I think I'm also going to get some story stones, have you seen them? They are amazing!!!

My girls are 4 and 16 months- the youngest is really easy to buy for but I struggle with the 4 year old. She has loads of disney/barbie dolls from our local car boot sale and she just likes to make up stories with them. She is very creative, loves making up stories and pretending but apart from her dolls and the dressing up box she doesn't really play with toys. I have decided to ask the in laws to make her a doorway puppet theatre (they are good at making things like that) and I am going to buy some puppets. She is also getting story cubes, some books, a rapunzel outfit, a merida doll, a skipping rope and a hula hoop.

I'm quite shocked that its only just October and people have already bought all their Christmas presents?!

I wouldn't dare as my children are bound to see the relentless adverts and lust after stuff I haven't bought! But getting some good ideas for when I get round to it anyway.

Ok well I did my online ordering for DD's birthday and christmas gifts last night, the bargain thread and here have been great for ideas and deals! We are having a clear out of her room this weekend, her birthday is early next month and as it's so close to Christmas we have a sort out every year and she decides what she has outgrown/will give to charity and anything unfixable gets binned.

Lego is all DD is interested in for Christmas (she's 4yo). She has a little box for all the tiny bits (the little food bits and horse brushes etc), the rest is in a giant box. We tip it out on a blanket and she has to keep all the bits on there. DH then picks it up and tips is back in the box at the end. It's not so bad.

DD still plays with her HappyLand though, especially when she wakes up early in the morning.
