Thinking of buying 11 year old ds a scooter for Christmas. Argos have got some with 20% off but I'm not sure if they are ok for him. Does anyone have a preteen, tall, who has a scooter so they can advise me which to buy?

It would be a good idea to look at an adult sized one

My 9 yr old DS is scooter mad, so I have become (ahem) a bit of an expert. Are you talking about stunt scooters? I would expect an 11 year old to want a stunt one rather than a 'toy' one, if you see what I mean. (The height of most stunt scooters are the same, a bit like BMX's.) Next it depends on your budget. For a first stunt scooter, I would go with a JD bug or one of the basic Grit scooters

You should be looking to pay about £60 - £70 for a first scooter that will last. You can get cheaper JD bugs, but they have adjustable height handlebars, which means that they are not so strong and are apparently social suicide, according to DS!

Try Skatehut or Proline Skates.
