Hi, I'm starting to get really excited about christmas and have been trying to think of my favourite memories.

Most of mine revolve around my grandma and her complete indulgences of all things christmas. She'd also make a pudding with coins in for us to find- whoever found the most would have the most luck!

What are yours?

One of mine is when pregnant with DD1.

Hubby got an xbox360 with dead rising (zombie game) for christmas from me and his sister

But sil forgot to buy the one with a harddrive. So he had been playing it for several hours, i was lay on the sofa as i was a week away from due date.

Next thing we know, massive power cut island wide. So he lost all his data.

Not only that but the building next to our flat?

A funeral home. And the lights were still on and there was someone walking around inside. Not good after several hours of watching a zombie game!

But other than that my fave memories are more opening my presents in a morning with my parents, giving them my presents to them. Visiting family. My gran always used to have bowls of chocolates and nuts out

My Grandparents have a beautiful cottage and every year before we all travelled to see them my Granny would cover it top to toe in decorations. From the outside it didn't look like much, but inside! She had a tree attached to the ceiling to save space, every beam was covered, te banisters, cupboards, everywhere!! But my most favourite bit of the house were the little ornaments she'd hang on our beds and in our wardrobes Smile

Pulling a cracker with my sister when I was about 7, and then knocking my bowl of soup all over my new Christmas dress and having to change Hmm

Getting a Mickey Mouse pram when I was maybe 5, and not opening the rest of my presents because I absolutely HAD to take my pram out right away (in the snow!)

Not being able to sleep and trying to hear Santa's sleigh bells

I have so many lovely memories of Christmas when I was young, it's my DD's first Christmas this year and I can't wait to start making all those memories for her Smile

sammie ever since I've had dcs I've wanted to give them lots of happy memories- thus this thread! I've also noticed I have lots of memories of people who have died connected to christmas which is another reason why I try to make it special.

tess I love the idea of decorations literally every where and I'm thinking I may just pinch that idea and hide some in their cupboards for dcs to stumble upon!

Thanks for sharing everyone- made me happy to read them!

The walk home from Christmas Eve mass at tea time with DM, scanning the sky for Santa and the excitement.

When I was about 7 , going to the market to buy tiny clementines.
Hearing a noise outside and finding it was a Father Christmas Float (this was in the early 1970s so very unsophisticated)

Watchnight Service as a teenager then piling back to the home of one of the families for a latenight supper

My first Christmas as a Mum, when it was the Millenium Christmas. DH and I were knackered, our tiny DS was 18 days old and didn't sleep Grin
Bless him.
