I'd love to make a gift for ds to give close relatives/friends.

Ideally I'd like to make some sort of decoration.

He will turn 1 on the 18th of December so I am not sure if there is anything baby appropriate.

Any ideas lovely Christmas fans?

Handprints in green upsidedown look like christmas trees.

Or thumbprint reindeer are good too <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=static.spoonful.com/sites/default/files/field/image/lets-make-cards-christmas-craft-photo-260-FF0108CARDA06.jpg&imgrefurl=spoonful.com/crafts/thumbprint-reindeer-card&h=260&w=260&sz=25&tbnid=LGcM4_9ecZavTM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=90&zoom=1&usg=__Vw8fCElgJ8DthltwiqOjMsGr1Z4=&docid=yymTt4HR-zojdM&sa=X&ei=ogxAUpDWFOGc0QWC3IH4DQ&ved=0CDkQ9QEwAQ&dur=3282" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here and you can do them on a mug, a bauble or whatever. Obviously get baby to do the thumb prints and you do the rest.

Or roll out biscuit dough or salt dough and help baby use cookie cutters to make shapes to bake and hang on the tree.

This year i've got some precut wooden christmas tree shapes (a bit like these but mine were simpler). I'm going to paint them green, then the dc can to multicoloured fingerprints on them to be baubles.

Watching with interest

My DD will be 14m and I would really like to make some things with her for the tree and maybe as gifts

I'm going to buy some sandpaper, get DCs to rub cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves on it. Then draw round gingerbreadman cutter and cut out. Put a hole at top and it will be a christmas dec hopefully

Is there a pottery cafe near you?

I really cherish the plates I made for my dc when they turned 1, with their hand prints in the middle, and star prints around the edge of the plate, etc. Great gifts for grandparents, and a fun outing for you?

When my DS was younger I made hand and footprint reindeer. The hands for the antlers and the footprint was the face (toes at top of head), drew on eyes and a red pompom for a nose. We then used them as Christmas cards with the following verse (have changed the year so I don't feel so old!):

"This isn't just a Reindeer, as anyone can see,
it's made from prints of my hands and feet, which are a part of me.
So when i'm grown and older, you can look back and recall,
the Christmas of 2013, when I was just this small."
