The one where I don't know where to start

I would like to bake a Christmas cake.
Lots of people keep talking about how they are starting their Christmas cakes and topping up with alcohol and how it makes the house smell lovely.
I want to have a go!
However, I have never baked a Christmas cake. Don't know where to start.
And I don't like raisens/sultanas that sort of malarkey.

Can I make a Christmas cake without that stuff and fill it with lush smelling alcohol?
I want a Christmas smelling house!!!

Not really IMO because it's the dried fruit you soak in alcohol.

Someone may have a better suggestion though.

I think they sell Christmas smell candles (lots less mess also!) sorry not very encouraging Wink

It's a rich fruit cake, so it will contain dried fruit. Do you like fruit cake? Easy to make, take a while to bake in the oven. You can feed them with brandy by making a little hole with a meat skewer or knitting needle and pour in a spoonful of brandy once a week or so. Then nearer to Christmas marzipan and ice.

No, I don't like any dried fruit Confused
Maybe the candles are the best way to go...... And a Yule log cake instead.
Ah well, the thought was there!
Thanks for your replies.
