What's under your Christmas tree?

A Christmas tree skirt? Some kind of mat? Nothing?

We had real problems last year picking the pine needles out of our carpet and I'd like to get something to put under the tree, but not sure what.

I quite like this kind of thing. I also like this (second picture down). Any thoughts?

We had a tree skirt- deep red with gold filigree (not sure if that's the right word) design on it.Bought it from The Range.Like the tree skirt in your first links and all the picks of the second home look beautiful!

I am lazy practical and have a huge artificial tree as my DD was born a month before Christmas 3 years ago. It has served us well and obviously doesn't shed.. Hooowweeevveerrrr; I do like the look of the fur, very Scandinavian and Christmas-y feeling! And may have to grab one myself!

Ikea stock little faux fur mats that look like i imagine reindeer fur would for less than a Tenner.

This year, a dark burgandy wine with gold velvet and satin tree skirt (bargainous bargain from QVC)
Previous years- a green felt tree skirt with teddy bears in a train all sewed by me, hand stitched and trimmed with beads and sequins (bargainous QVC kit about 10 years ago. Took months to sew)

Teddy Bear one will go on the fibre-optic tree this year I reckon

Thank you for the ideas of where I might find mats, will take a look! I do like the reindeer skin, lots of people have them where I'm from, but was worried that visitors might have an issue for some reason...

pale I think anyone that comes to my house after the 22nd of Nov (DD's birthday) is offended by my Christmas-ness! Do what makes you happy! It's your home x

paleandinteresting · 18/09/2013 16:15

Thank you, I should be better at thinking like that! Smile

Fake tree here and we have a felt red skirt with gold trim.

Can't wait Grin

paleandinteresting · 18/09/2013 17:37

I can't wait either! Fake trees seem very practical and possibly more environmentally friendly (?), but I adore the smell of Christmas trees and choosing one is part of the excitement for me.

pale I saw somewhere that you can get spray to make your fake tree smell real ??

Rosvita · 18/09/2013 18:41

Tesstackle I heard that too!

paleandinteresting · 18/09/2013 19:44

Maybe I should get some of that and spray it round the house Smile Squeee, getting far too excited about Christmas now!! Just about to order a reindeer skin.

pale I've been buying presents since July and am on the lookout with my beady eyes for tree decorations. Going red white and gold this year. Think disney Christmas. DD will be three end of November, so she can help this year; super squeeeeeee

GreggsOnLegs · 18/09/2013 20:00

I was going to say ds2 :-D
He kept pulling it on top of him last year (artificial) so I got fed up and took it down.
I bought a tree skirt in the January sales for this year, I want a real tree.

paleandinteresting · 18/09/2013 20:11

Our cat tried to climb our real one and almost pulled it down, gave him a bit of a shock! Smile

Tess, I guess your DD is the age where she understands Christmas more, should be lovely! Had an EMCS in November last year and was still feeling a bit rough at Christmas so this year should be much better!

TessTackle · 18/09/2013 20:15

pale sorry to hear that :( hopefully this Christmas will be full of joy!

Bugger. I didn't think about the cat (kitten) she's going to be a nightmare
