But there's something about dates depending on your 'tier'

Is that Harrods account holders get first dibs?

We have been booking with Harrods Grotto for the last 7 years. Over the last few years they have introduced the booking system that they currently have in place. Harrods Rewards card holders receive an email with priority booking according to how many points they have, i.e. how much money they have spent in the store over the last year. It's a rewards card, a bit like a Boots advantage card rather than an account card. So, on my card I have about 300 points (I have been shopping twice in Harrods over the last year and have spent about £200 I reckon). I am on green tier. They have emailed me to say that I will receive a link at some point before this Friday to book. The same thing happened last year and the only weekend slot that was available was in November. I am clearly not spending enough money for their liking!

I wouldn't even get onto "sludge brown tier" because in my lifetime I've been to Harrods once and didn't buy anything.

70s - how old are your DCs?

I have posted on the other grotto thread, I like the look of the Westfield one but feel as though we should stick with this one now as we have done it every year and have photos from every year showing how the DCs have changed (and how much DP and I have aged and how much my weight has yo-yoed!).

Got my tickets today, it's become a family Christmas tradition!
I buy childrens shoes from Harrods to keep my tier up as they cost the same as Russell & Bromley Grin.

Guitar mine will be 11.6 and 14 by Christmas.
When they were little we went to "Father Christmas Grottos" at Lakeside, Deal Castle, Burnham on Crouch railways .

They are old and cynical too old even for Lapland UK.
I guess if anything I'd need to save for Lapland but it would be mainly to run behind huskies and jetski then see the Northern Lights Grin

Hmmm, I have seen families with older children at the Harrods one who seem to turn it into a 'family Christmas experience' rather than just a trip to see Father Christmas. Some of them in the queue are in very large family groups giggling which looks like fun.

I have been looking into Finnish Lapland for next year, am horrified to be honest at the price.

What about Santa's sleepover at Alton Towers - do they like gaming? They have a Sonic room...?

Just got my tickets (pre-school experience!) Smile

Kaekae · 11/09/2013 10:15

I just purchased my tickets, I could only get a date in November as the whole of December was booked up already!!

LoreleisSecret · 11/09/2013 13:49

Mine was November too but i dont suppose the children will mind! Smile

Guitargirl · 12/09/2013 20:25

I booked our tickets today too. We could have got an after school time in December but that's a bit stressful trying to get the DCs across London in the rush hour so have gone for a weekend in November. Oh well, nothing like starting the Christmas count-down early. And at least doing it this way means that if the DCs ask Santa for anything really unexpected it means that I have time to sort it out/make excuses - as opposed to them asking for a dog or something on December 23rd Grin.

Theimpossiblegirl · 12/09/2013 20:29

We used to go but since they bought in the tier system have found it impossible to get tickets. This year they haven't even bothered sending us an email. Clearly not spending enough either. If you can go it is a good experience though.
