Going on holiday for Christmas

We have decided to spend christmas on our own this year and have booked a lovely log cabin in a forest in Scotland. Christmas is really important for us and I want to make the whole week really special and very Christmassy. But I am now beginning to worry about the logistics of ordering everything for Christmas dinner, getting all the dc presents there and keeping them hidden. If we were at home we would do the Santa train and panto and go and look at the lights etc. I have everything planned which I obviously can't do this year as we don't know what is near us and what the weather will be like. Has anyone else done this sort of holiday over Christmas ? How did it work out ? Should add we have 5 dc and the eldest is ASD so I need to try and have a plan for the week as he needs structure.

We are staying near Banchory and arrive on 21st Dec until 28th Dec.

If it were me, I'd book a slot with the supermarket for delivery on 21st and get everything bar the meat you will need for the week delivered.

I'd then phone the local butchers in Banchory and order your bird for Christmas Day if that is what you are having. That should mean no need for a supermarket run at all. Local fruit and veg shop should be ok.

For the kids, you could have stuff delivered to the house bit you re relying on deliveries getting throu if there is snow.

There is a tesco superstore in Banchory so may be the click and collect thing they do for presents?

Butchers is called laidlaws of Banchory.

How big are their presents? Could you take an extra suitcase with them n and keep it locked?

I agree to contacting local butcher and arranging an online delivery.

How near to the cabin do the owners live? Would they be able to accept deliveries on your behalf for an extra charge, and you could just order presents online and ship there?

Will the place be decorated? I think a good activity when you arrive could be to decorate the house?
