trying to get organised as also have baby, and need ideas for 3 year old DD.

She will get puzzles and books etc any way. Likes fireman sam and Thomas but fear she might have moved on by december. Also likes Happyland, music, craft and anything outdoors......... already have some stuff for this already.

So what should I get her for Christmas that she is likely to grow into 3 years plus.......................(play kitchen might be a good option).

nb. I have little experience of children so would like to try and get ahead of her development a bit to stretch her.

Toy kitchen is very popular in this house (the ikea one is very good and reduced at the moment). Otherwise a balance bike or scooter? Or dressing up stuff?

Dd is 3 in a couple of weeks for her birthday and Christmas she's getting....

Trampoline
Dressing up outfits (builder, Merida and monsters inc)
Build a bear
Maxi Hama beads
Big old fashioned wooden dolls house (if I hadn't got one 2nd hand I'd have bought the rosebud one from elc)

She already has and loves...

Scooter (don't forget helmet)
Wooden play kitchen
Doctors kit
Lots of craft stuff
Pram, cot, baby etc
Instruments
Cars and garage
Trolley, play food, cash register, play money.

She isn't ridiculously spoilt its just she's inherited all ds's toys as he's grown out of them.

got balance bike and dolls house, and just bought a garage for now (although stupidly forgot to buy any cars which was the first thing DD requested)!

Love the idea of dressing up outfits and will have a look at the ikea kitchen. Have also thought about baby, pram etc. Have a basic baby from ELC which she had for first birthday but will look at others. Also like the doctors kit idea. Thank you!

I can highly recommend the Ikea kitchen. We bought it last Christmas when DS was 22 months and he's played with it everyday. It still looks as good as new as well.

We're also struggling a bit for ideas but I was thinking about buying DS a toy camera as I thought he'd like that. I'd like to buy him a trampoline and some outdoor toys but that'll have to wait until we move which feels like it's never going to happen Sad

Dolls house?

How does the Ikea kitchen fare size-wise?

patchesmcp · 05/09/2013 14:41

Numpty it's a good size. My DS is big for his age and plays with it easily, what I mean is he's not having to stoop to use it properly. It also comes with feet you can use to raise it no idea where I've put them though so it should last a while. The measurements will be on the Ikea website.

It's very sturdy too, and the doors open and close nicely, which I've noticed is not necessarily the case with some. The colours are nice and neutral so it kind of blends in in our living room which is a bit of an added bonus!

Cash register and plastic money is very popular with my 3yr old DD. And Duplo. The best thing we have ever bought is a toy kitchen. Get's played with daily and every child who comes here also plays with it. Shopping trolley also a hit. And she is just starting to like games, like Gruffalo dominos (although she just matches them up at the moment, doesn't play it) and Shopping List.
