My dm especially stumps me every year - as she has a bday so close to Christmas too. Could do with some new inspiration.

In the past I have bought:
theatre tickets,
afternoon tea voucher,
magazine subscription,
pyjamas and slippers,
handbag,
laptop case / bag
perfume gift set

My mum loves to be 'showered' with gifts - so I usually buy one decent thing and several cheapies eg biography from poundland, kitchen things from B&M, pretty stationery from The Works etc.

Anyone else?

have you tried notonthehighstreet? Some things can be v. pricey, but lots there below £30.

I've just got ILs a joint present (works out cheaper) and ordered aftershave gift sets weeks ago (cheaper now than at Christmas time).

Gah. Every year I have the biggest stress about what to get my MIL, she is exceptionally hard to buy for and since we've not lived in the same country for 10yrs now I've done the vouchers / subscription thing to death. This year they are at SILs in OZ for xmas so I'm getting something small and token like and putting in cash for a meal out or an activity so they can have fun without us sob

I do photobooks of grandchildren or photo calenders. This year all gps are getting a mug with dc handprints on and their "name" on, plus naice tea/coffee/biscuits, or a plantpot or vase with handprints and corresponding plant/flowers. An afternoon at tge local pottery place = done!

There is a theatre production near us in Dec of an old children's show that my dm loved, so I'm thinking of us all going to that too.

anybody doing photobooks - tesco photo are currently half price but only until the 1st September...

I don't really have a relationship with my mum so I do tend to spoil MIL at Christmas (also because she's ace and gives us loads of free childcare).

I think I'm going to get her theatre tickets for West Side Story for next year. She always get a copy of The Broons/Oor Wullie, I got her J'adore one year and she loved it and now wears it all the time so that's always a back up as a gift from DS. I saw on Firebox a moliculor cocktail making kit (her new hobby is making cocktails, I told you she was ace) which looks pretty cool so that's a possibility too.

I as she a lovely woman, easy to buy for and always very gracious and thankful of whatever we get her.

Great! Keep the ideas coming! I love buying early and am so good at getting all the children and my sister sorted but still end up last minute stressing about the men and the mums!
