I want to take the kids somewhere for a weekend

near Christmas to see lot of lights and a little shopping.

Where would you recommend? We've done London and Blackpool.

Glasgow? Edinbrough?

Manchester is great- it has the usual Christmas market, great shopping, lights are good, Salford quay good- a good city to visit.

Does manchester have an ice rink? Liverpool does and at christmas it is fab but thinking manchester this year?

Manchester sounds good, not too far away from me either.

York? Lots of Christmassy stuff, already has the Dickesian things going on, but you have the Dungeon, Railway Museum, Jorvik, Castle Museum etc etc too
