My dd (8) likes The National Geographic, childrens version.

everydayaschoolday · 18/08/2013 19:44

National geographic kids. Sorry cant link from phone. If you have a tesco club card, some magazine subscriptions are available on the rewards.

everydayaschoolday · 18/08/2013 19:45

Lol. Snap!

Slainte · 18/08/2013 20:39

Stand and autocorrect could you tell me what minimum age you think the NG Kids is suitable for? TIA

Goldensunnydays81 · 18/08/2013 20:42

Is she into crafty things there is a magazine called ruby loves which I always want to buy!
My 8 year old sister would love the national geographic kids one.

Cheeseatmidnight · 18/08/2013 20:48

I would also say National Geographic - my 2 year old dd loves the posters and fact cards

DamnDeDoubtance · 19/08/2013 16:02

Ruby loves is great, we got the 1 st 3 months for a quid then it's £12 per quarter plus we got a cardmaking kit as a free gift. When it plops through the door it keeps dd8 quiet for days.

toisa · 19/08/2013 20:06

I think the ruby one sounds much more suitable for dd. where can I get the offer of first 3 for £1

Runoutofideas · 25/08/2013 19:20

My 8 yr old dd1 loves the horrible histories magazine

LumpySpacePrincessOhMyGlob · 30/08/2013 19:47

Horrible histories magazine, who knew! Dd would love that.

nkrazinski · 11/10/2013 18:23

Our kids got zoobooks years ago and has been an on and off arrival at our house. The kids definitely enjoy the animals and learning about them, but getting their own mail is where you see a little magic in their eyes.

pdxevergreen · 11/10/2013 18:25

There are many age appropriate magazines for kids.... www.magazinesforwomen.org/magazinesforchildren is a great resource.

Antidote · 11/10/2013 18:27

Try one called Aquilla. Both my nephew and younger female cousin lived it at about that age.

TheYamiOfYawn · 11/10/2013 18:46

Mine loves The Phoenix, which is an adventure comic type magazine

BeaverAbroad · 12/10/2013 00:55

Mine loves Animal Action, comes regularly, loads of things to read about, quite interesting and has loads of things to enter?

TeamJesse · 12/10/2013 14:01

Anorak is great, on phone so can't link, but easy to find on google.

pdxevergreen · 22/10/2013 17:54

I love giving magazines....Highlight is a great one...so is NatGeo Kids, and maybe American Girl if she is into American Girl Dolls
www.magazinesforwomen.org/magazinesforchildren/

is a great resource, and offers a good discount.

OurMrsReynolds · 22/10/2013 18:22

I am getting mine Jacqueline Wilson subscription I think Smile

JoannaBaxterLovesBumsex · 22/10/2013 18:25

Mine loved Aquilla, if you are looking for something both fun and educational.

JoannaBaxterLovesBumsex · 22/10/2013 18:26

sorry spelt it wrong Aquila link here

WaitMonkey · 23/10/2013 23:22

So disappointed. I emailed to enquire about a subscription to Ruby Loves and it's being discontinued. Would have been perfect for dd1. Sad Sad Anyone know of any other craft type of magazine for an 8 year old ? Thanks.

ICantFindAFreeNickName · 28/10/2013 22:51

I think the Jacqueline Wilson mag often has craft activities in it. My dd has had a subscription for a couple of years and has loved it. Unfortunately I have never managed to get a discount on the subscription. My dd has also just started to get the weekly First News, which means she is often more aware of current news than I am!!!

penguinplease · 29/10/2013 22:31

Don't buy ruby loves! They took my money and I had a nightmare trying to get it back, the mag is being discontinued and all existing subscriptions moved to the Jacqueline Wilson mag. Very disappointed that it took me 3 months to get it sorted!
We get kids NG, it's good
