Saw this expression on Pinterest and DH and I have decided to give it a go. Usually we budget about £50 to spend on each other and I'm sure four gifts will stay within that bracket. So now I need ideas!

He like F1 and karting, Star Wars and sci-if as well as anything space related moon landings etc., he paints but has tonnes of materials at the moment. He's not really interested in clothes or music.

We've been together ten years and I've pretty much exhausted every piece of space related literature in that time, I think I saw a Guinness book of records just on F1 stats so that's a possibility.

Anyone got any suggestions or if you're doing this too can I just steal your ideas?!

Thanks Dearly, yes he has, I used to run a bookshop so had good access to all space related stuff. It's a really good read that one.

What about the "Something To Eat" bit?

Id do:

Read - A magazine (dh likes film ones)
Wear - A hoodie (H&M)
Need - A waterbottle amd attachment for his bike
Want - A lie in and a fry up!

something he would want - star wars Lego
something he would need - something gadgety?
something to wear - a nice going out shirt
something to read - is there a sci fi book series he likes - or star wars novels?

No need to do a something to eat 70 with the amount of calorific treats floating around MIL's where we will be this year.

Star Wars Lego is a good shout, he does already have a good few sets but they all end up in the loft gathering dust eventually.

Just been on the works website and they have the guiness f1 book for 6.99 so that's one heading taken care of.

If he hasn't read books by Hugh Howdy then those are banker. Superb newish sci-fi author.

Yep, scrappy, got him Senna for his birthday and I don't think the new F1 movie Rush will be out by Christmas as it only going to be release at the cinema this month.

Love this idea, I'm trying to find a way to spend a little less on family presents without appearing tight. This might be a way of doing it. Will need to find some nice gift bags though

This idea is fantastic, I am definately stealing it, will be a much easier way to put presents together for extended family.

I think I will use gift bags like shopping and maybe put the little rhyme on the tag?

For something to read there are loads of Haynes manuals for £1 on the Halfords website with the option of click and collect for free delivery. Everything from the Dad manual to F1 to home repairs or gardening. [Smile]

I'm going to sound like an old spoilsport here but as its a gift, why not just spend the budget on the "something you want" part? I would a thousand times rather spend more on something my dh genuinely liked than faff around with books and socks etc for the sake of it to fit in with a rhyme. I'm a humbug aren't I?

BellEnd...mine will more than likely be as follows for dp (I am a bit shit at presents so this rhyme will make it a bit easier for me)..

wants - new cod or modern warfare or somesuch game for xbox
needs - ebay bike at this rate
wear - hoody or decent t shirt (he usually only goes to Primark so will be branded possibly)
read - Nuts mag or something like that because it's rare we buy anything like that

Then I'll do a small stocking of bits he needs too & some odds and ends of randomness too (plus bacardi because he likes it & I can't stand it so never buys it)

Those sound like good ideas. Perhaps I'm just jealous that I get various bits of clothing/snowboarding kit pointed out to me on a few weeks beforehand. DH is the fussiest bugger I know, ridiculously hard to buy presents for so when he finds something he likes I jump at it rather than waste my money on little bits he will pretend to be thrilled with which are never seen again. I think I'm projecting.

I like receiving little thoughtful presents though.

I find everyone except the kids hard to buy for tbh, am still to buy dp a birthday present for the end of last month because nothing's jumped out at me

dp gets it spot on for me every time too!....not hard when the criteria is a useful gadget (last year my phone, year before that kindle), sparkly or handbag

Yep, space ice cream has been a stocking filler before and I can confirm it's bloody horrible!

I think Star Trek into Darkness should be out on Blu Ray by then so another possibility.

To wear I'm keeping an eye on the Qwertee facebook page as their t-shirts are great for geeky husbands (and wives) and because they're only available for 24hrs you're usually left with something pretty unique.

Could I pass off a large bottle of decent Vodka as something he needs?
