Wii for 5 and 7 year old boys?

My two boys have asked if they can have a Wii to play skylanders. They have a Nintendo DS at the moment. Is the skylanders game different on the Wii than on the DS?

Is the Wii a good buy for this age?

What package and games shall I get? Any essential extras?

I was thinking Mario Cart Wii package with the steering wheel and then buying the Wii sports and skylanders separately.

Any help appreciated!

Skylanders is much better on the wii. Ds has it on the will and Ds and the Ds version is very poor in comparison.

I hate computer games but the wii is fantastic because it has games that the whole family can play even me! Wii Party is great fun and we have spent many rainy afternoons playing this.

If you are playing a family game you will need one each. We have 3 as ds 2is only 3 and he plays alongside dh but we will need to get an additional one soon.
