Hi,

I remember reading on Mumsnet last Christmas that a lot of mums were doing the 24 books of Christmas instead of an advent calendar. I'd love to do the same this year, so was wondering which books were a big hit with your little ones last year? There are so many to choose from!

TIA

Big hits last year were The Gruffalo's Child, Stickman, Lucy and Tom's Christmas and Mog's Christmas.

Just remembered that I have one stashed for this Christmas - Morris' Disappearing Bag by Rosemary Wells. It's lovely.

How Santa Really Works.

I still get made to read it now as a bedtime story!

I had a thread about this last Christmas, will need to find it to remember what I bought. My DS's really loved it, even more than the Lego or chocolate calendars. Shock

I second OvO with 'How Santa Really Works'. Gorgeous pop up book with fab detail in the pictures.

this one that I picked up from The Book People for £3 in one of their sales awas an ENORMOUS hit with my two last year

We also have The Jolly Christmas Postman.

Have been doing this for the last two or three years, gradually building up the collection and also replacing ones that become outgrown. I can't remember what other ones we have. I think there's an Usbourne things to spot xmas themed one, this one this one is gorgeous, not christmassy per se but definitely wintery this one, The Little Angel is one of my favourites and last year I bought The Christmas Truce which my 6 year old really liked

And 24th has to be Night Before CHristmas, surely? :)
