How long before cooking do you take your turkey out of the oven to bring it up to room temp?

I don't want to make us ill by getting it out too early.

When will you be doing it?

Hello, are you talking about taking the turkey out of the fridge before putting it in the oven? If so, I allow about an hour and then straight into the heated oven.

I do let the turkey rest for 30 mins at least when it comes out of the oven before serving.

If you are not sure if the turkey is done, stick a knife into where the leg meets the body and the juices should run clear (i.e. no pink juices). If the juices are not clear, put it back in the oven for another 10 mins and then check again.

I dont bother ,take it out of the fridge,clean and prep it and straight in the oven.

I don't normally bother either but I heard on TV that it relaxes the bird and makes its more tender and moist

I don't bother either, might do this year now you've said that! Chanatan, how do you clean the turkey? Washing it under a running tap will spread raw turkey juices round your kitchen. These days there is no need, the oven is plenty hot enough to kill anything

Out of the fridge before cooking, I'll take out night before and leave it in the cold, closed oven (our kitchen is freezing overnight).

After cooking, I'll leave it to rest for an hour or more whilst I finish spuds, veg etc. Covered in a double layer of foil and some clean tea towels it will be fine. I've done it this way for the last 11years, haven't had a dry turkey or poisoned anyone yet...
