I have read to take it out 2 hours prior to cooking to allow it to come to room temp, this will be ok as Dc will all be up by 6 but friend has said she takes out night before and leaves out in room overnight. Just wondered what the right thing to do is?

I'd take it out night before, so long as you do not have a thieving baggage cat Xmas Grin

Night before. Cook it early - it will be fine for aaages once it's cooked, wrapped in foil and towels to keep warm. Leaves the oven free for potatoes and parsnips.

We have a cat who is shut in the kitchen overnight.
Turkey out overnight + cat = no Christmas lunch. Grin
Think I'll take mine out in the morning as usual.
