I am a bit useless at things like this. Xmas Grin Shall I open it now? I am dreading her asking me to 'set it up' Like I know how to do that! I'm hoping someone nice has posted an idiot's guide on youtube that I can follow.

It should have some charge in it but you can charge it when you plug it in to sync with iTunes.

I would and did for my DS's birthday - you or her also ideally need an i-tunes account - how old is your DD? Do you have a computer in the houses? I have a lap-top and contected the ipod to it - and then put somethings from my i-tunes -on it - is a normal ipod or an ipod touch? If its an i-pod touch we also set it up so he could download things easily. It is really very straight forward -but I would have a go before xmas

Thank you. It's an ipod touch and we have a laptop. I'll be brave and try later.

Nice one
It's frustrating to receive a gift and then wait a day to use it!

bangersnmash · 23/12/2012 08:28

Yes I would agree to charging it and getting it setup. DD1 had one for her birthday and charged it and pre-loaded it with some music /apps so it was ready to go when she opened it .

Set it up, otherwise you'll have to do it on xmas day when you want to relax.

housesalehelp · 23/12/2012 08:37

sorry that didn't make sense - I set it up so he COULDN'T download things easily - he needs my --tunes password to download apps - and I have set the parental controls - so if he watches Ii-player there are limits on what he can watch - we have also disabled safari - thats the internet brower - and facebook links etc - DS is quite young so that might no apply for your DD
oh and we set the wireless internet on it

Set it up beforehand. We've got the DCs a Wii U and the initial update it does took an entire evening to download and install. That would have sucked on Tuesday morning, particularly as we're going somewhere else in the afternoon for Christmas dinner! It's frustrating having to wait to use nice things Xmas Smile

Housesale I have a tablet for my younger dd, do you know how I can disable safari and restrict iplayer? Thanks

housesalehelp · 23/12/2012 09:43

is it an I-pad? I would imagine its somewhere in settings - it was very easy to find in the i-pod touch - no tech wizard here - if its another kind of tablet - do google search or the geek stuff section on here are very helpful

Great, thanks
