Now we've constructed the gingerbread house, what do we do with it?

I mean, is it actually ok to keep on display till Christmas, and then eat? It is one of the ready to DIY ones.

Or do we have to eat it straight away?

The ginger bread in the pre made ones isn't great, and hanging around fr a few days won't improve it. We usually pick the sweets off and give some of the biscuit to the kids if they insist.

Hmm Looks like its gingerbread for pudding tonight then. We have two to get through. Grin

I made one with DD1 today. She loved doing it and it was nice to spend some one on one time with her.
She keeps calling me into the kitchen to see it as she is so proud of it Xmas Grin

We will be tucking into ours tomorrow and Monday.

Last year we "displayed" ours for two days prior to Christmas Day it wasn't until I walked in the front room one night and caught the cat up on the windowsill where she discovered the gingerbread and started licking the roof and knawing on the chimney, safe to say I quietly binned it before anyone tried to eat it. Damn pets Blush

(Sorry this is probably too late!)

The gingerbread keeps just fine, esp if it's from a packet so no need to scoff it all in one day. they're designed to stay out for days or weeks. The fact that they're not as tasty as home made comes with the territory...

Thanks, anja. Have still got it so hopefully won't be too bad tomorrow- they are desperate to leave it for the family to see, and then eat!

We constructed ours yesterday, and mine are desperate to take it apart now! I put them off till tomorrow as we've been scoffing birthday cake all day (even Santa gets a piece!). Thereafter I can report back how cardboardy a 'DrOetker' one tastes after a few days in the open Xmas Grin
