Would IBU to wash Christmas PJs?

If I wash them, there is zero chance I will be able to refold them into the pretty folded with ribbon shape they are now.

If I don't wash them, they will be stiff and itchy.

What is everyone else doing?

Wash them, then find a youtube video of how to fold them, there's bound to be one.

IAmTellingSanta · 22/12/2012 09:20

Wash them and lightly iron them and then do as whoknowswhere suggests

brainonastick · 22/12/2012 09:20

Grin I was just planning on washing ours today, so I would say go for it. But we do all have sensitive skin, so the thought of wearing things unwashed, all covered in chemicals, makes me itch.

Arithmeticulous · 22/12/2012 09:21

Iron them? Hmm Has it really come to that?

No ironing will ever take place in this house hovel.

My dcs are only 5 and 3, the wont give a fig if they are ironed or not though.

IAmTellingSanta · 22/12/2012 09:40

Before I get a rep as a neat freak, only suggested ironing cos it's a gift! Saying that I have the new Phillips iron that can go from ironing something delicate to ironing rugby shirts and I have been seeking out things to iron while stepping over the dust bunnies on the floor

InNeedOfBrandyButter · 22/12/2012 09:46

I never ever wash clothes or pjs first.

ILikeWhisperingToo · 22/12/2012 09:53

Im washing mine today Xmas Grin as a general rule, if it goes straight next to skin it gets washed - young DC though. Freshly washed just smells and feels a bit nicer but they're only young so they won't notice the new pj's in the wash - I might rethink it when they're older.

You could roll them instead, put ribbon round the middle?

Arithmeticulous · 22/12/2012 10:02

They had ribbon round the middle Sad

They are in the wash. I will get DH to iron them.

I wash things that go next to the skin, DD has sometimes got a rash from new clothes when I haven't. My DCs got their new PJs early this year as they had a pyjama party at school last week and it was a nice surprise for them.

baileysontherocks · 22/12/2012 11:34

Never wash new phs or clothes that new feeling is amazing and come to think of it i dont know anyone who does :/ my kids especially love the felling of brand new clothes Grin

WinklyVersusTheZombies · 22/12/2012 11:37

I would have said don't wash them until 3 years ago when I got myself Christmas Day pjs (went to church Christmas Eve in case anyone's worried!) and they brought me out in a neck-to-ankles rash. So sad.

Pleasenomorepeppa · 22/12/2012 11:40

I've washed ours, I'll probably just stuff them into the Christmas Eve sack!!

Narked · 22/12/2012 11:59

I wash everthing for the DC before they wear it since I found out about the chemical residue left from manufacturing. I don't bother as much for DH and I. We're old and full of nasty chemicals Grin.

I did convince myself that I had some problem with the veins in my thighs after I'd been out walking most of the previous day. The whole area was really achey and tinged the colour of my veins - greeny-blue. Luckily, before I thought about phoning the doctor's surgery, I had a shower. And the water ran blue with the dye that had rubbed off onto my legs from the new unwashed jeans I'd worn the day before Blush.

FelicityWasSanta · 22/12/2012 12:01

Blush narked that has happened to me to...

Benaberry · 22/12/2012 12:21

Me too - except the dye from mine rubbed off on my parents brand new cream leather sofa - I got up and there was a big bluey-green mark where I'd been sat...moved a cushion quickly so they didn't notice, and then cleaned it down with washing-up liquid and a sponge after they'd gone to bed. Dh thought it was hilarious, grrr!

I haven't washed the Christmas PJ'S, I did when ds1 was tiny, but tend not to worry now - thinking about it I should probably have done ds2's though, oops

Narked · 22/12/2012 14:42

We should start a smurf club Grin

Arithmeticulous · 22/12/2012 15:03

I've washed them and managed to just about get them looking smart without resorting to Shock ironing.

I'm not going to wash anything else - it's just these were quite cardboardy and starched.
