We are going to DH's parents for xmas. We are driving there on Xmas day and have said kids could open one present on Christmas eve and then have the rest at Granny and Pop's house. All good so far. DGP have just rung "Oh can you buy the kids something from us we don't know what to get" "WTAF!!!!" They want me to go out in the madness with an autistic ds and a toddler and try and buy last minute gifts on their behalf. I gave them suggestions in NOVEMBER of what the children might like. I am a little pissed.

ARF at val's suggestion Of dh's being able to do anything useful at Christmas, let alone sort out errant parents!

Re-label then tell them it cost £7 more than you paid for it. dishonest but I would do it

Its a shame it is a funny suggestion kirstoll. I was really making the point that yet again ILS get the woman of the house to sort out gift issues rather than getting their son to actually take any responsibility. Trouble is too many of us have to let let them get away with this sexist behaviour otherwise the kids suffer. I have 'trained' DP to take responsibility for his family; I am perfectly happy to do the shopping if I am out anyway but only if he has decided/asked them what to buy.

I get what you are saying fifty but in my family it is me who is expected to do things, not really wanting a debate on the rights and wrongs of this to be honest

There's a point that it is much quicker/easier/ better to DIY! Not that dh doesn't have good points, but everyone has their best jobs. Mine is the organising everything/everyone (an I suspect yawnings is too!) dh is very good at.......... Unpacking bits off cardboard Xmas Wink
