Should i buy it pre-made? Or make my own? Champagne? Or can i use prosecco?

OP posts:
cocoachannel · 19/12/2012 14:44

I make my own and leave out the orange juice

cocoachannel · 19/12/2012 14:46

Seriously though, actually Dad who makes them in our house and its usually Champagne and juice with no bits.

sauvb · 19/12/2012 14:46

I use prosecco and cranberry juice, because I think it makes it more festive! Doesn't answer your question though! you can use whatever you prefer. I think it's nicer made with fresh juice on the day mixed with the fizz personally. and I think prosecco is fine. - But champagne is a treat for me, so I wouldn't waste it with juice Xmas Grin

Sainsburys Taste the Difference Clementine Bucks Fizz is amazing!

wordfactory · 19/12/2012 19:44

Instead of Bucks Fizz, can I champion the Bellini? A lot nicer...

serin · 19/12/2012 20:19

Agree, sainsbury's is nice.

Straight from the bottle. Grin

curmit · 19/12/2012 20:21

oooo granny I just bought some of that! :D

pleasestoparguing · 19/12/2012 20:22

I use Cava / Prosecco for Buck's Fizz and keep Chapagne neat to enjoy - secon Bellini or Kir Royal but perhaps not for breakfast!!
I like the bits in the OJ too.

PoppyWearer · 19/12/2012 20:25

Bellinis are yum.

Or also a sprinkle of pomegranate seeds and small mint leaves makes it v festive. Pre-freeze the pomegranate and mint in ice cubes to avoid faff on the day. Works in either champagne or Buck's Fizz.

You can also get hibiscus flowers in syrup from Lakeland I think, to drop in a glass.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/12/2012 20:31

Yum to Bellinis. Liking the pomegranate thing too.

And Prosecco much nicer than champagne generally.

PoppyWearer · 19/12/2012 20:57

Agree prosecco is the way to go - the San Leo stuff on offer in Waitrose for £6.66 a bottle is fab. Three bottles for the price of one of champers - what's not to love?

rhondajean · 19/12/2012 21:02

A second for Thr sainsburys clementine one.

Then bellinis before dinner.Xmas Grin [fhiccup]

cazza2878 · 19/12/2012 21:05

What do you use to make bellinis? Peaches not really in season I think? Do you use pre-mixed stuff or something? thanks.

rhondajean · 19/12/2012 21:06

Peach purée, archers and prosecco. White peach purée.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 19/12/2012 21:14

Waitrose sell little sachets of white peach puree.

LittlemissChristmas · 19/12/2012 21:18

Blitz a tin of peaches

A bottle of Champagne (or three), a jug of orange juice (no bits) and a bottle of crème de cassis/framboise with a handsome silver pouring spout placed on its end, put a white starched napkin round the collar of each bottle and through the handle of the orange juice jug. Put it all on a tray with some delicious nibbles.

Why the heck we bother with a turkey I don't know. Xmas Grin

CelticPromise · 19/12/2012 21:44

Rhubarb bellinis are amazing. Google it, it's a Hugh F-W recipe I use.

For Buck's Fizz I would use cava and freshly squeezed OJ. With bits. Grin

QueenofPlaids · 19/12/2012 21:49

A Valencia is much nicer tha ordinary buck's fizz IMO. Basically a buck's fizz with a teeny amount of apricot brandy in it. Orange bitters if you can get your hands on them. Yum!

That said, we'll probably just have champagne and my mother'll be into the Bristol Cream...
