he's 10
apparently last yr FC managed to read his mind and he still believes

I'm sure he's stringing me along in the hope that either FC will miraculously bring him whatever he wants or he finds out the truth.

but what do I do..buy something and hope for the best?

btw our tradition is FC brings one present.

So FC is some sort of omnipresent god figure in your DS's mind Grin

Tell him he's human and needs a written note, which you will kindly post for him....

Or let him learn the hard way that if he doesn't tell anyone what he wants, he's not very likely to get it

bookbird · 18/12/2012 22:46

My DS tried that this year "it's all magic Mum, so he'll know what I want". He's only 6 :-(

I convinced him to write his letter to FC because FC is an old man and with so many children in the world, he can easily forget if he's not got a written note. It's just not worth the risk! He seemed to buy that.

ggirl · 18/12/2012 22:49

right I like the bit about him having so many children..i'll use that
thanks

We've had that with DD2 the last 2 years, Last year involved a trip to Toys r Us 'for ideas', and this year she's getting whatever i find. She's 7. Santa has a brilliant imagination apparently.

3yo DS has asked for 'Toys like Tom'. Tom owns every toy in the world so that makes it very easy to choose a few this year! :o

MajesticWhine · 18/12/2012 22:52

Wow, that's lovely. My 10 yr old has known the truth about FC for 2 maybe 3 years. Such a shame.
bookbird's suggestion is worth a try. Otherwise you will have to hope for the best.

amck5700 · 18/12/2012 23:40

I have an 11 and a half year old who still believes. He s a clever lad too, just quite innocent :o

He never writes a note because Santa always knows what he wants even though he doesn't always know himself.

I suspect the same is true of your son - he either doesn't know or the thing he wants is so hideously expensive and he doesn't want to ask.

My guess is that he wants an ipod. Xmas Grin

You could alwasy say that someone else (gran maybe) has passed on a message saying that as Santa hasn't had a note he is going to guess what he wants....he is not a mindreader, just a good guesser!

I'd describe ds1 as agnostic when it comes to SC as every now and then the white-bearded-one throws a curve ball and he gets something his parents said they would never ever buy him... Last year a 3DSi, who knows what he'll bring this year....

ProbablyJustGas · 19/12/2012 13:22

DSD tried that this year, aged 6, because she is lazy about letter writing. I told her the elves don't have the same magic as Santa, and they're a bit thick, so they need it to be written down. That seemed to do the trick!

ggirl · 19/12/2012 17:45

right have told him he needs to write a letter as he's so busy
now he's saying he doesn't know what he wants .....aargh

it'll have to be somehitng I can buy on monday
