As a veggie I don't eat it but thought it would be nice for my Dad, DP and DD1 to have some nice ham with their turkey slices.

Have never cooked ham before (honestly) saw some nice little joint things in the shop, do I just cover in tin foil and cook or is there something else? They are not fussy do plain is best. Thanks

Nigella Lawson does a fantastic ham cooked in cola, it sounds fancy but super easy and really tasty. Just get an unsmoked gammon joint (about £3.00 in supermarket) put in a saucepan and cover with cold water and bring to the boil. When its boiled throw away the water and rinse the ham, this remove the salt. Then put back in empty pan with 1 large onion cut in half and cover with either coke or cherry coke (must be full sugar) and bring to the boil then simmer for 2 hours. Leave to cool, you can even cook it a couple of days before and keep it in the fridge. My mum who is 80 and hates coke and any fancy food, loves this. This is the item I cook all over Christmas, I have already done 3 and will do another 2 before the year is out as everyone loves it. Honestly sounds yuck but tastes delicious.

Good Luck.

I do mine in Coke too, it is gorgeous!

Don't roast/bake it for all the time, this dries it out too much.

Calculate cooking time and boil for half the time. Then remove the top layer of fat and score in a diamond shape over the remaining fat, pushing a clove into each diamond. Then smear all over with a mustard/marmalade mix. Roast for the reamining cooking time, covering with foil if it looks like burning.

I do mine in the slow cooker with coke, then do the fat scoring and honey mustard brushing, then stick in a very hot oven for 25 mins or so. Tis lovely.

How much coke would you use if you did it in the slow cooker?
