I need a dessert that is not too high in both sugar and fat and isn't entirely made from fruit! Does such a thing exist as I am stumped. More than happy to make something from scratch so please, if you have any ideas... Xmas Confused

We re having Christmas pud but am making a baked mincemeat cheesecake tonight to have tomorrow - its in this months good food mag .... Think my mum old self ignite if we tried to something different from the pud !!

That's a really tough one - is it for a diabetic? I think your easiest option is to serve cheese & biscuits at the same time as pudding. Not that that meets the low fat criteria, but it hits the other 2.

"Think my mum old self ignite if we tried to something different from the pud !!" Hilarious notapizzaeater! Hope the cheese cake turns out okay!
Perhaps i'll take a look on the good food website to see if they have any lighter pud ideas...

Not a diabetic toomuch, a migraine sufferer. High sugar/fat are triggers which is tough. Sadly cheese is a massive trigger so not an option.
Looking like a fruit salad for us then, ho hum!

This is a bit summery maybe but it is very delicious and quite festively spiced - though is red wine a trigger too?
Kiwi and lime in red wine (serves 4)

Pour 200 ml red wine into a large pad and add 200 ml water, 100 g caster sugar, 2 cloves and a cinnamon stick. Simmer 15 mins. Cool, add 4 kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced, and 8 slices of lime, and chill.

What about meringue fruit roulade? Sugary but not fatty, not sure if you can make meringue with sweetener instead if sugar or half/half?

Pourquoimoi · 16/12/2012 16:16

Or a posh fruit jelly terrine?

milkybrew · 16/12/2012 16:27

pourquoi-posh friut jelly terrine sounds good. Will look for recipes. I think i can make a cream type substitute using 0% fat fromage frais. Maybe add a vanilla pod, perhaps cinnamon. I was thinking perhaps a trifle type dessert, layering things up! Xmas Confused Not sure it will work!

Low fat yoghurt fruit fool or peaches in white wine or Mont Blanc using low fat fromage frais or grown up jelly with gin or vodka and a garnish of fruit.

Pourquoimoi · 16/12/2012 17:03

Here's one. You can vary the alcohol or wine type.
