Tinsel - am I hopelessly out of date?

I've been looking for tinsel, the lush, thick gold kind for our tree. I can't find it anywhere in real shops though tracked some down online. Is it out of fashion? (disclaimer: in my book, christmas lights should be multicolored, the tackier he better)

poundworld had tinsel the other day, not poundland, poundWORLD.

And they had those foil fold out decorations that you hang from the ceiling and they fall down every 5 minutes.

Do not get from poundworld! I did that thinking it was thick. It isn't! It's like string, can barely tell my tree is wearing it

mycatoscar · 15/12/2012 19:04

Saw some today at a garden centre and also at b and q

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/12/2012 19:07

Nooo! Poundworld is the Harrods of the poundshops! their training manager said it on the telly and everyfink.

I think John Lewis does tinsel, if you want to slum it.

Valpolliandtheivy · 15/12/2012 19:10

Slum it? Tinsel IS Christmas

You could twist lengths together to create a more bushy like tinsel?

greensnail · 15/12/2012 19:34

Wilkinsons or B&Q will have some. All our tinsel is on the bottomhalf of the tree as the dc just piled it all on the bits they can reach. It looks interestingGrin

MirandaWest · 15/12/2012 19:35

I got a nice piece in Asda :)

Kbear · 15/12/2012 19:36

B&Q - nice bushy tinsel, which is never out of date BTW, you can try to be trendy and buck the system but a tinsel-less tree just aint a Christmas tree :)

ArbitraryUsername · 15/12/2012 19:38

B&Q have loads of tinsel. I love tinsel. DS2 (3) was wearing thick, shiny, gold tinsel as a boa while we were decorating the tree.

Sorry to post and run, ds not wanting to sleep tonight. I tracked down my tinsel in John Lewis, only tasteful gold available. I will know next year to try b&q and asda, thanks. Grin at "slumming it" in John Lewis, I will use that excuse next time I spend too much there Wink

Do you have a Buyology near you?

DS's have chosen some super sparkly, thick and bushy tinsel at 99p a go. It actually looks ok on the tree!
