Christmas tv is grim this year

Repeats, repeats, repeats followed by an hour and a half of the spice girls on Christmas Eve. I remember when there was a big blockbuster movie on Christmas Day. Something to look forward to! Doom and gloom of the soaps this year it is.

Get yourself the DVD of Arthur Christmas and watch that Christmas day, it's brilliant. :)

Watching live TV on Christmas day is rubbish anyway as you have to plan your day around the schedules.

I'm away for Christmas but will be recording the snowman and the snow dog on Christmas eve , the call the midwife Christmas special and Miranda that's about it !

gregssausageroll · 15/12/2012 09:49

We have Arthur Christmas for Christmas Eve which we are looking for and brave too so it isn't like we don't have anything to watch. I suppose I am just a bit meh at the spice girls on Christmas Eve!

I am Xmas Shock that they are not showing The Polar Express.

Quite right to be meh about the Spice Girls ! Shouldn't they be Spice nearly-middle-aged-women, by now ? Xmas Grin

I hated Arthur Christmas Confused we watched it last night without DC and glad they were in bed.. It ruins the whole tradition of Christmas. I don't want to see Christmas all techy and Santa as a big bafoon that doesn't give a shit about the kids.. It was just horrid. Completely goes against everything we teach kids about Christmas!

I will be watching Elf, Polar Express, the Santa Claus movies.. Just the old classics. I don't think Christmas tv has ever been good has it? Its renowned for being repeats. We don't watch it on Christmas day anyway.

I've bought the DVD of Woman in Black for Christmas Eve (not for the DC though)
DH is working on the 24th, so I'll need to nag him to stay awake while it's on .

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 15/12/2012 12:53

There's no Top Gear special Shock
There is Outnumbered though and Call the Midwife.

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 15/12/2012 12:54

And Dr Who.

soontobeburns · 15/12/2012 13:20

shrek forever after is on over Christmas I'm sure of it?

GreenyEyes · 15/12/2012 13:28

I bought the Xmas Radio Times yesterday (klaxon- OFFICIALLY CHRISTMAS NOW I REPEAT OFFICIALLY CHRISTMAS NOW)

and yes, the telly's crap.

PoppyWearer · 15/12/2012 13:32

I was so disappointed when I got out my highlighter pen and settled down with the Christmas Radio Times. Hardly circled anything.

I then got online and have also bought Arthur Christmas and some Madagascar DVDs to get us through Christmas Day and Boxing Day (yes I know Madagascar 2 is on anyway).

Room on the Broom should be good, and Dr Who, but that was about all I saw that was any good.

TheWoollybacksWife · 15/12/2012 13:39

The only things I'm looking forward to are Dr Who and Rebecca. And I've just remembered I asked for the DVD of Rebecca for Christmas, anyway.

The DCs have got some DVDs for Christmas too, so it is just possible that we may enjoy a couple of good films without having to resort to Monopoly to entertain the family.

Gigondas · 15/12/2012 14:09

What about the new snowman film on Xmas eve?

ellenjames · 15/12/2012 14:17

is the gruffalos child on?

Gigondas · 15/12/2012 15:54

Yes I think so
