Airfryer - any good? Present advice please!

I've saw the Airfryer on a Stephen Fry Gadget programme and think I may buy for my girlfriend I found it via here for £89. That seems a good deal but big question.....are they any good?! Does anyone own one? Do they make good chips?! My GF likes the 'shiny shiny' gadgety type stuff and is fairly health conscious, so I think I'm OK on that front. Advice....or alternative suggestions would be appreciated! Be gentle! (my first post)

To be honest, if my boyfriend bought me this I'd throw it through the window and he'd be following.

Oh.... we have kindle, tablet, laptop etc etc So, is a 'useful' present never a good idea? Obv I will get the usual stuff, underwear, smellies etc etc as well

Not unless she asks for it. It's a present for the house, not her. What about some pilates lessons? A day at a spa (). You don't have to get her another shiny gadget just for the sake of it.

And just to totally confuse you- I'd love one It depends on your girlfriend - I am a foodie who loves cooking and chips and kitchen gadgetry is very welcome as a Christmas present. Howver, there are many others who do not agree...

Cannot comment on whether it's any good as I don't have one (yet).

Mmm...well this is the insight I was looking for I suppose. She sorry, We, like food and she likes kitchen gadgets so....

If she bought me a drill, I'd be like Mmmm, Power Tool, grrrr, I like! (if the specification was good enough obviously). but I wouldn't take it as 'now get and put some shelves up' in the same way a kitchen gadget doesn't have to mean 'make me (low fat btw) chips now woman!' :)

Men and women think very differently though, don't they.

I have an Actifry and I love it. I would love it if DH got me a Roomba for my christmas but everyone is different and some don't like household appliances for christmas presents

The way I see it is, if its a kitchen gadget that I'd love but wouldn't waste the household budget on, then I don't mind it as a Christmas present.

For instance, coffee lovers might love a nice coffee maker even though they are quite happy with the kettle and a jar of Nescafe. So it would be fine to buy one as a present. However a New kettle would not be well received as its a basic necessity.

So if the Airfryer was something your girlfriend would love but wouldn't waste the usual budget on, then I think its fine as a present.

I would cry if someone bought me a fryer for Christmas. Big, snotty sobs coupled with 'WHY? WHY DO YOU HATE ME?!' type wailings and ending up with hideous drunkenness and fish fingers for dinner. Just a heads up.

I'm another who would love a kitchen gadget for Christmas! So would my DH. We're both very into food!
I want a breadmaker for my birthday!

DH's first Christmas present to me was a milk pan and a punch bag, both things I'd asked for. So a fryer might be just the ticket.

My DH has bought me an Actifry for Christmas, I know because it was delivered without any packaging. I am so excited! I Can't wait to start using it!

Ooh. Not seen an Actifry before. I wonder if it is too late to ask Santa?
