Do you buy your DC's dad (or mum) a christmas present if you aren't together?

Hi all. I don't know whether I'm supposed to buy my exp a present 'from dd' or not. She's 3. It was his birthday last month and he got a handmade card and an 'I love daddy' mug.

I honestly can't remember if I did last year, he was being a prize twat so possibly not (we broke up the previous May) so, do you? Should I? If so, what??

I have done in the past but was told in no uncertain terms to stick the pressie where the sun don't shine !!

Does he do the same for you Southern? That would make a difference to me I think. Dd is old enough to get stuff for her fw herself, and does. I made sure she got him a more significant present recently cos he was 50, but generally leave her to it.

If you do, I personally would be making it a token pressie.

I give each of my DC £10, take them to the shops and let them choose whatever they would like to give their Dad. I do not influence the choice of gift at all. DC are 7 and 8 and have done this for the past 3 years

I let my DC choose something or make something like a painting on a canvas block. It is important to me that it is chosen by DC although if his father buys me anything he sometimes labels it as being from the DC yet has not involved DC in choosing, buying or wrapping.

I think you should if they aren't old enough to make or buy something off their own back. He/She still their parent and that's what I would want my DC to think Christmas is about...being kind and other people.

Ok, I think so too, but don't want to give out the wrong signal so it will definitely be a token gift. See, I left him, he refused to accept it for a longg time and carried on buying me perfume (for my birthday) and tried to buy me a spa day for Xmas. I refused ( I was with my current dp at this point) and my cousin talked him into buying me a DVD instead. But it was clearly from him, not dd, despite her name on the tag.

This year we are on good terms, he and my dp get on fine etc.. hmm.
