Christmas cards for nursery class - etiquette?

DD is 2. Today in her bag were 3 christmas cards from 'classmates'. None are names DD mentions. She does 2 full days at nursery.

so what is the etiquette? I am expected / is it the "done" thing to get a list of every child in her room & send them all cards. (They may not even go on the same days.)

When my 2 were at nursery they just did cards to the children in their group, normally about 10 of them. I wouldn't give to everyone.

I've just noted down the names of all of the children in her group (only 12) and am sending cards to all of them, not to the younger or older groups.

My DD is in a preschool of 36. She has made 4 cards for the children she plays with most, the ones we meet up with, have round etc. none of them are in her key group though.

Asked the teacher for a list

Most of the kids have given my son one, I'd feel awful if a kid noticed he didn't give one back

I just used to get a list and send them all one!i couldn't handle some unknown kid looking up at me watery eyed expecting a card!

3 years of nursery and ds1 never sent or received a card (did stuff for nursery workers though).
Hoping he will continue this record now he's in primary 1!

i got a list from the nursery worker in my dd2 toddler class

DD had a list sent home in her book bag with all the childrens names on (22) so I sent each of them a little card from her.

Last year at nursery, sent a few that DD decorated herself, and only at her request. Received a couple. It was about the same before, only less, I think we received the odd one that was done by a parent who did the list thing but I never felt any need to reciprocate - unless they were special friends etc.

I don't think there is an etiquette - if there was one specific to your nursery then you would know best. In fact we got a little note from school this year (reception) which implied that parents should not just write cards to all kids on the list but involve the kids in the writing and maybe just write to a few friends they self-selected. DD has written 6 so far, and received about 3, all of them 'self-written' and drawn by the kids.

And of course I did teaching staff in all cases...
