advice on paper jamz products

Please.

DS (8) has asked for guitar and I have bought (to be delivered) a paper jamz pro. Really having second thoughts after looking at you tube clips.

Does anyone have one? Is it any good or should I just buy a regular guitar?

I know this probably isn't what you wanted to hear, but if he has asked for a guitar I suspect he will be disappointed with paper jamz. It really isn't like having a guitar.

Paper Jamz aren't guitars though. They are very clever in what they allow you to do but more suitable for a 5 or 6 year old. You just strum along randomly to one of 3 pre recorded rock tracks. There is a mode for playing your own tune but it's incredibly difficult and unrealistic. My ex-H is a fabulous guitar player in a band and even he couldn't get much of a tune out of the paper Jamz our DS had.

You would be better off getting him a child size guitar and lessons.

Thanks so much! This helps enormously.

Thinking this www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0013V2UVW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A3VJJUNKS00SA1 may be a better option
