Sorry, I bet X-box is a bit of a swear word for many pp on MN.

I have noticed that many DVD's are cheaper on blue-ray at the moment. Are they compatible for playing on an X-box? It's just that we have an old DVD player and it is not going to last forever. It seems a shame to buy old style DVD's if we will eventually get a new one.

Cheers x.

Ps3 can play Blurays, I don't know about Xbox.

You can play DVDs on the XBox360, but not Blu-rays. PS3 plays both.

Many thanks for that. We have been using our X-box to play DVD's lately. Won't be rushing out to buy a PS3 to play blue-ray any time soon (my Dh may see this differently). Actually the blue ray players seem to be quite reasonably priced these days.

We have this blu ray player - you can also connect it to the internet if you don't already have a smart tv.

It's actually only 55 quid - direct from Amazon

Oh my, smart tellies, I am so out of touch. Thanks for the link amck5700.

I do have another question. If I get a blue-ray DVD player, can I still play old style DVD's on it? Apologies for being so out of touch Confused.

no problem :o - yes you can play dvds on it too.

I have the benefit of having 12 and 11 year old sons who know everything!

amck5700 · 07/12/2012 21:01

everything in our house runs on wifi or is connected to the internet somehow - before we went unlimited, the boys managed to run up a 65 quid bill in excess charges on my internet package in 1 month!!

I can even wirelessly stream all my music from the pc to my music system upstairs and in the livingroom.

chocolateicecream · 07/12/2012 21:12

That's good to know.

I think that we need to go unlimited too. My dd spends quite a bit of time on you-tube (natural geographic etc.) and we have had a few e-mails over the past few months informing us that we are close to our monthly download allowance. Kids are expensive.

Wow, have the kids been giving you lessons, I'm impressed.
