Please help what do 6yr old boys like? It's also his birthday before Xmas and all he wants is chocolate cake and a bouncy ball. He's got an older brother so we have plenty of Lego, ds, xbox and he uses my iPad. he got a scooter last year which he hasn't used much. I notice his friends are moshi monster crazy, but he's not bothered, I've taken him to the toy shops but nothing catches his eye, even his brother doesnt have any ideas for a main present for him. I have 3 children have plenty for the others it's just the 6 yr old, he doesnt really play with toys and I feel quite sad about this, he mainly follows me about, likes books, drawing, watching tv and computer games. Getting desperate and interested to hear what you are getting your son of similar age. Thanks

Have you got a Wii? if so, you say he likes drawing and computer games you could get him U Draw. Has he got any of the books that show you how to draw things step by step? proper sketch pad, and sketching pencils? table tennis set that you attche to dining room table?

My DD sounds very similar. She is nearly six and wants nothing. She is happy with what she's got and we also took her round Toys R Us asking what she likes and she saw a few things she liked but didn't want.

I have brought her a bracelet, lots of things to play schools with, some toys for her age which don't think she'll play with, some boots, sleepsuit and just odd bits.

My son has lots of ideas and have spent more on him but it is difficult.

Funny thing she is.

Hope you get some good ideas. Is he into crafts? Maybe get him a couple of moshi monsters packs, he might start getting interested in them?

He sounds like my ds who is also 6. It's a been a nightmare trying to sort out presents for him. My ds loves Skylanders.

How about some nice art stuff and a box to store it in? A comfy beanbag? Camera? Books/e reader? T shirts or other spin off items from his favourite computer games? U draw looks fab, I've got one for DD.

It's so hard when they don't give you any clues or if they don't want anything. have you got him to write a letter to Santa or asked his friends what they are asking for?

All the boys in my sons class are skylanders crazy. So I have got him skylanders giants booster pack( he already has spyros adventure) and various people are getting him the figures.
My son never plays with toys either, reads and plays computer and watches tv
You can get drawing projectors - Ben 10, transformers etc

Rooobs · 04/12/2012 11:30

skylanders here too.
Also, torch (or head torch) for reading in bed.
Activity books are going down well here at the moment.
How to draw type books.
Umbrella (maybe he's too old for this, my 5 year old LOVES his spiderman umbrella).
Binoculars.

Oh and Hama beads. Theyr'e VERY popular with both girls and boys around here (and my hoover loves them too Smile)

How about a game - we've got ds pass the bomb.
Alsothisanimal book from the book people which is great quality. I really like just imagine book.
If he likes drawing and doing things with you, would he like to make his own chocolate cakes by bakingwith you?My ds loves cutting sugarpaste with cutters like these. You can do a kilner jar with the dry ingredients ready weighed in for him to mix.

Skylanders or Rayman.
John Lewis does a lovely wooden (but cheap) chess/draughts set.
What about a special outing just him and one parent? eg walking with dinosaurs is on tour soon (cost a fortune for all of you to go!).

My son is also getting a telescope and a metal detector for Xmas. Does he have any lego? Or maybe a science experiment kit?

pateran · 04/12/2012 16:29

I have DS 6 he hasn't asked for anything b ut does play with some toys though with us both working and him and school all day have to say that he doesn't get much time to play. We got him a cheap internet tablet, £130ish can be cheaper I know you said he can play the ipad but at least it would be his.
Apart from that my DS friends also like moshy he says he does but has no clue about them.

iseenodust · 04/12/2012 16:59

To help boys integrate into the playground Moshi chat - moshi top trumps. They learn rarity value etc just like cricket statistics of old Grin

GladbagsGold · 04/12/2012 17:42

What about a CD player/ MP3 player? My 6 year old has had a CD player for ages which I just discovered in a cupboard, dusted off and she has had LOADS of fun putting music on.
