£10-£15 gift for a 5 year old, reception class boy?

I know he has grown out of Thomas the Tank Engine but not sure what the next step is for boys, I only have girls and boys are a bit of an unknown for me. For his birthday I bought him a JCB truck thingy and apparently struck gold with that gift so don't want to let the side down by getting something lame. I need to defend my crown of being the 'cool aunty' Grin

Nerf guns are your friend.

Foshp.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 02/12/2012 22:47

Tut.

Fosho.

wonderwooman · 02/12/2012 22:48

Lego is always a hit

DualFuel · 02/12/2012 22:50

"Nerf guns are your friend" Yes, but I fear his mother would no longer be Grin

I too hate nerf guns. I always give money in a card. Always goes down a treat.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 02/12/2012 22:53

Well, I'm a mom, I think they're ace.

Especially the ones with the green discs.

notnagging · 02/12/2012 22:53

My kids also love asda or amazon gift cards.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 02/12/2012 22:53

So ner!

ChaosTrulyReigns · 02/12/2012 22:54

OK thne, what about a Where's Wally book?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 02/12/2012 22:54

Magnetix

ChaosTrulyReigns · 02/12/2012 22:55

Meccano?

trixymalixy · 02/12/2012 22:55

The imaginext batman stuff is a big hit with my DS and nephews.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 02/12/2012 22:55

Lego City stuff?

notnagging · 02/12/2012 22:56

I suppose it depends on your background. My dh grew up in a rough area and does not want guns. I have 5 boys op & some toys always cause trouble.

TheHouseofMirth · 02/12/2012 22:56

The Lego Brickmaster things a re good. Amazon has a Star Wars one here for £11 or if he hasn't been hit by the Star Wars bug yet he might liek the Lego City one

BiBiBroccoli · 02/12/2012 22:56

anything superhero related! Spiderman web battler? Spiderman walkie talkies? I have a 5 year old boy and all his friends are similarly obsessed with spiderman/marvel avengers/batman.

TheHouseofMirth · 02/12/2012 22:56

Sorry for typos.

Ds is five. Hot wheels tracks for the wall? Coo Ell.
Or, anything remote controlled.

BeaWheesht · 02/12/2012 22:57

My 5 year old loves imaginext batman and anything spiderman or star wars related. The big web shooting spiderman is reduced to £15 from £35 in asda and maybe Argos just now.

BeaWheesht · 02/12/2012 23:00

Hmmm that spiderman seems to be back up in price now Sad sorry.

I've just bought that glove for ds and 2 of his friends

DualFuel · 02/12/2012 23:08

Bea Thanks, that seals the deal. Its in the Amazon shopping basket Grin

Thanks all, much appreciated.
