Christmas present for an 11 year old?

I need to buy a Christmas present for a friend's dd, aged 11. She is a lovely girl, quite quiet, likes reading etc, not really into precocious Tweens stuff. BUT although I have known her all her life, I haven't spent much time with her over the last couple of years and I don't know what she would like. I probably want to spend about £20 but don't mind going a bit over.

Any recommendations?

Book token - seems boring, but it is the thing my book loving 10.5 year old would like best.

Either that, or ask her parents what she'd like - by that age its a bit like asking what a 35 year old would like, it depends on the 35 year old in question!
