I never ever though I would say this but.... I NEED A FAKE XMAS TREE

I have ALWAYS been a real tree girl but now, 5 children in with new lovely floors and too hot heating I must concede defeat and go the route of faux.... Please ladies, do make a recommendation of a tree that is lovely.

We got a half price snow flocked tree from B&Q - it is just over 6feet and not too wide.

Me too! My mum is buying us a tree as our Xmas present so we can actually get a good one, but I have no idea where to look.

Tesco have one for £15 that's very decent in size and thickness. I bought one for £15 from Wilkinson last year and its disappointingly thin.

No I want green fake. I really want it to look real [wails] Crikey I feel like such a grown up making such a practical decision

We got ours from Argos in the January Sales.

It was perfect for our old house where it had to sit in a corner - we just left off some of the rear branches so it fit neatly.

It does look a bit "perfect", though.

why does having 5 children mean you need a fake? Get a real Noble Fir. It's not Christmas without that real tree smell.

Yes AKiss I know what you mean.... We have three under three with the littlest just about to crawl and needles and water for tree which could ruin beautiful floor and needles and needles..... [traumatised..]

It is the heating thing too, going to have to bring it in at very last moment as will be carnage. Usually we are at our place in France good and cold with tiled floor so tree has a chance but the only place in this new house for tree is perilously close to radiator (and too cold blooded to switch it off)

that John Lewis one looks very sparse - I wouldn't pay £100 for that! We got this one - it looks much better in real life than in the picture.

Same thing here, many children and new carpets! We just got a 6ft one from Argos, reduced from £50 to £20!

We have a Tesco Finest one (bought at 90% off) and it's still looking good about 6 yrs later. If you can wait until a week or so before xmas they will drastically reduce prices.

We were going to get a real one this year but have two kittens so decided against it this year. We opted for a pop up one instead, looks fab!

I am exactly the same, I love a real tree, but this year practalities have taken over, we got this one its really nice and half price. It's selling out so you will have to do a click and collect.

I was in Homebase today and amazed actually how much they cost. Having never considered one before I was shocked about the price of them generally. I came over all a bit stabby as they had a huge singing Santa which made me homicidal and so abandoned the mission without a purchase. My heart is not in it but I have to get a grip!

That said I do spend a lot on a real one too as we have really big ones...

Decent real trees don't drop needles.

I had mine up for 2 months last year and it didn't drop until I took it down.

The National Tree Company do amazing fake trees. They aren't cheap, but they are worth it if you are going to use them for a few years.

I got this one last year, managed to find one discounted in the end after waiting for a couple of years to get it. It was worth the wait.

I have always been against fake trees, especially the cheap ones with only a few branches, that look really scrawny and bare, I just think that they look so naff.
However, due to various reasons this year we decided to invest in a good fake.

I was initially not convinced, (it was dp's idea) but we did pick a good full and 'bushy' one that is pretty real looking.
Now that it is up and decorated I have to admit I am pretty impressed, from the sofa you can't tell that it isn't a real tree.
It did cost us few £££'s, but it does have five year guarantee and a "real tree smell"

I bought my first fake tree a couple of years ago. It is not the same, back to areal one this year, thank goodness, fake is just not that Christmassy.

I bought one last year after the price of real trees went up and up. And the needles even with one of those heavy cast iron water holder tree pots.

My faux tree arrived (IIRC) on the 22nd last year so not aload of time to assemble it. It's got 200 lights so I've ordered some more (warm white) to add.

They take a bit of faffing to get the best out of them though.

We also got a Tesco finest one, seven foot, £40 about a week before christmas, on our third year and looks ok. Would prefer a real one but we aren't actually here over x-mas so no point.

Step away from the fakery. They're fine in department stores, hotels and offices. At home they're just horrible
