I bought a new tree, it is gorgeous, got just the right amount of colour coordinated decs and looks really elegant. dh has just taken the box up to the loft and is bringing the rest of the decs down, so do I leave my tree as it is or do I let the kids put all the other stuff on it so it will end up looking like santa sneezed at it? (the other decs are all the things the kids have made over the years and totally random stuff which woont match at all.

Go with the colourful mess now - mine are now 15 and 17 and away at school and want me to do the trees/decs before they come home so that it is all finished before they get back and they come home to a Christmassy house. If they do help they now do colour co-ordinated trees and refuse to put on any of their old home made decorations so I only get to look at them once a year for an afternoon when the box comes out of the loft. Make the most of the coloured home-made tat while they they still make it and it gives them pleasure. Those years are soon gone!

Santa vomit all the way at Christmas time! At other times of the year I am he opposite way inclined BUT I love looking at our mish-mash of a tree, with baubles collected from our travels and stuff the DCs have made.

There are some amazing memories represented by our tree. and thankfully DCs not yet tall enough to decorate at adult eyeline where the vomit is slightly more tastefully arranged.
