What's the oddest thing DC have asked for, and did they get it?

Years ago DS asked for a yellow suit. Was v young & couldn't describe it but wanted it for months.
I bought him some thermal longjohns & a vest & dyed them bright yellow with dylon along with a pillow case that I attached as a cape. I got some red felt and cut it into his initial & attached it to the front with wonderweb.
He was delighted with it on Christmas morning & then never wore it Confused
DD has asked for a diamond maker this year - I've told her if she manages to get one I'd quite like a few diamonds myself.

'A real invisibility cloak like Harry Potters one' - Confused

COCKadoodledooo · 01/12/2012 20:55

When he was 4 ds1 was insistent on having a shirt and tie to wear for Christmas lunch. Oh and one year he asked for a potato..

ChessieFL · 01/12/2012 20:56

An Adam Ant t shirt. She is 3. I don't think they make them that small.

Not odd but sweet.

ds1 (11), dd (9) and ds2 (7) just want FABCat to still be with us for Christmas Smile.

SweetMingePie · 01/12/2012 21:09

DS3 (4) has asked for towel hoop so he can have his towel next to he sink in the morning.

Last year ds2 asked for and got a father duster and salad tongs.

SweetMingePie · 01/12/2012 21:09

*feather duster

littlemrssleepy · 01/12/2012 21:11

DS asked for an undercover policeman costume. Grin

Nivet · 01/12/2012 21:11

DS asked for baby tigers and jam last year. Far more endearing than this years request for a gun "so I can shoot animals & goblins".

2gorgeousboys · 01/12/2012 21:18

Last year DS2 (then 7) asked Santa for a towel with his name on (my lovely friend embroidered one for him and actully it comes in really hand for school swimming lessons) and an electric pencil sharperner.

Both much easier to arrange than the previous year when he asked for a baby sister Shock. That was not going to happen Sad so Santa had to write and explain that 1) you dont get to choose between a baby boy and a baby girl and 2) if anyone is going to deliver a baby it would be the stork a la Dumbo not Santa.

DD wants a bouncy thing. It has six sides, and is bigger than mummy but not bigger than daddy.

Confused

(I know it sounds a bit like a trampoline, but it's something she's made up in her head. I have no idea what she's actually picturing).

JugglingWithPossibilities · 01/12/2012 21:24

A smallish trampoline might go down well though ?

ISeeThreadPeople · 01/12/2012 21:30

Last year dd wanted a hydrangea. She was four. I did get one for her.

Ponders · 01/12/2012 21:32

"a jellyfish with wheels"

this made me LOL

Xmas Grin
Ponders · 01/12/2012 21:33

EndoplasmicReticulum that was yours!

PigeonPie · 01/12/2012 21:37

My DNephew (now almost 15) asked Father Christmas for a chain saw when he was three so that 'he could cut down next door's tree'. It did flummox FC.

My DNiece (now almost 12) revealed earlier last month that she hasn't believed in FC for more than two years and my Sis, Bil and nephew have been tiptoeing around not mentioning it for all that time keeping up the pretence Xmas Grin

AlreadyScone · 01/12/2012 21:44

Lovely thread!

DD once asked for "a horse balancing on top of a tree made of chocolate"

Unfortunately Tesco rewards wouldn't stretch to that

AlwaysHoldingOnToStarbug · 01/12/2012 21:56

DS1 once asked for a "stripy fruit bowl" No idea where he got the idea from, but that was all he kept asking for.

We couldn't find one anywhere, so in the end bought a huge ceramic bowl and some paints and told DS1 Santa had painted it especially for him!

DS5 only ever says "presents" when I ask him what he wants, which is hard. He doesn't really play with toys, so I have no idea what to get him.

DS2 wants bow ties for Christmas, he's into bow ties. He'd also like a top hat, braces and a blazer with elbow patches!

MrsMerryMeeple · 01/12/2012 21:58

wheresthegin The Together Doll and you can send them a sound-file to embed in it! Xmas Grin

CheeseStrawWars · 01/12/2012 22:05

DD asked for a family of gorillas. She's getting a Zhuzhu monkey mummy and baby set cos it was cheap. That's close enough, right?

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 01/12/2012 22:07

This year, DD wants a and I quote "pamplemousse rose" with the little accent I can't type Pamplemousse is her favourite french word, and that and croissants are sort of dominating her thoughts just now Confused Sydney Tuna (for those who remember last Christmas Grin ) is now a Ninja Croissant Warrior too...
One year when he was about 3 or 4, no2 son asked for a "shark and a clock" and got both, although the shark was plastic. We still have it in with the bath toys too and he's 18 now! Grin

twentyten · 01/12/2012 22:18

Metal detectors are brill. We dropped coins in the garden and left a note from Santa saying he'd dropped some money.. It was brilliant!

Mathsdidi · 01/12/2012 22:25

Dd1 wanted skis when she was 3. She had never even managed to sledge down a small hill without major tears, she was rather uncoordinated, and we had no intention of going skiing ever.
It took me a long time to find any toys with skis on but I eventually got a playmobil figure with skis from ebay, that was satisfactory.
