why do people ask what to get your kids for christmas....

only to get them something else entirely to what you said? and im not talking ££££££ either. fiver - tops.

seems pointless to ask and then ignore completely!

my kids only have presents from me and DH so if anyone else asks im very grateful, but really, why ask, then get something else entirely? especially when if they ask, i feel i have to ask, but i bought what they said!

I had this recently with PIL's for DS's birthday. I spent ages looking up things he'd like, went through the list with MIL, spent a further hour or so looking through catalogues with her to get more choices. The next day, she rings me and mentions she is going to look for one of the items. A few days later she speaks to DH who then tells me she's gone out and bought a great big pile of crap something else completely. Arrrgghh, why bother??
