I spend all Christmas trying to make sure they are nothing like Christmas I used to have when I was younger and that dc actually get to enjoy it!

Me too. Put a huge pressure on myself to get it 'perfect' and 'like the movies' so my DC have the best one ever like I never did. I even lose sleep over it ffs.

I was just saying to my sister last night that i have no memories of christmas as a child :(

I know what you mean about putting too much pressure on yourself! I can be really perfectionist as it is, and that has made me very anxious about getting everything right. However my health has declined this year, and cliche as it is, has really made me reevaluate what is important, and what my DCs will actually care about and remember, and I feel a bit more relaxed about it.

I've been disappointed in the recent past as Xmas has just ended up a bit 'meh'. However, it is still vastly preferable to spending it with my parents. Thankfully, as they still don't really care about Xmas, they were not at all bothered by us spending it on our own (me, DH, 2 young DCs). They think it's just because we want to be on our own, I've never had the guts to tell them the truth that actually we don't want them here because they end up doing absolutely nothing, and generally suck the living soul out of the day.
