Brand New Playmobil Sets - Where Can I Donate

marriedtoagoodun · 28/11/2012 12:59

I have got some playmobil sets - dinsoaurs, take along castle, Egyptians big sets brand new in packaging. They would retail at over £300. I have teelephoned the local Refuge but have not had a reply to my message. We are moving house so need to get them gone quickly! Does anyone know where I can give them that will ensure they go to a 'good home'.

Wow how generous of you!

Our asda has a trolley where you can put gifts to be given to those in need.

Argos were collecting toys for Banardos.

whsmiths used to collect gifts (not sure if they are this year) also local hospitals might be collecting for poorly children?

DewDr0p · 28/11/2012 16:42

Local churches may also be collecting?

Your local council may do a collection for children in homeless shelters. Mine does and all the duplicate gifts they are given throughout the year are donated to them every December.

Other option is sell them and the donate the money to a charity :)

You could contact your local Homestart, they would be very grateful for them!

I know somewhere desperate - I was speaking to a family therapist today - they are in the process of setting up 2 outreach centres for children who have been sexually abused.

I would happily pay the postage/courier to get them to her - I'd email you the label so you knew the charity was receiving them if you wanted - she was telling me she has been scouring the charity shops for figures etc for the children.

It's so sad that such an important service is reduced to this.

I took a pile of toys to them today.

Thank you all for your help - I did locate a local family (via church group) who are really in need and have a lovely little boy who needs cheering up. However Izzy I have had your pm and would have loved to help them but events overtook. I wanted to know that it really was going to an individual/special cause rather than the 'put a gift in the trolley thing' as the stuff was bought for a very special little boy who is no longer with us :(

I'm really, really sorry to read why the toys were available - I hope the little boy who has them gets great joy from them.

It's sad that so many charities are scrabbling like this - you can't help them all and I hope you can take some comfort from knowing you have helPed make someone elses little one smile x
