I buy a real tree. Way too early for that! Grin

MrsBungleBear · 26/11/2012 11:25

Next weekend we will go and buy one and put it up. I am a Christmas loon but even I wait until December for the tree!

D0oinMeCleanin · 26/11/2012 11:26

I refuse to acknowledge Christmas until at least Dec 1st and even that is too early imo.

Is it just me or is it getting earlier and earlier each year?

It. Is. November.

Some neighbours of mine put theirs up two fecking weeks ago. Although I suppose that is not as bad as the house on the school run who has Santa climbing up a ladder on the front of their house all year round, although otoh they have the grace not to turn him on until December.

Got OH to fetch it out of loft over the weekend and I am dying to put it up, I am so excited for xmas this year as DS is excited for it (he 3.5 yo) he has been to little previous years and prior to that xmas hasn't been much to celebrate as my mam died on boxing day 9 year ago. So I am pleased to be getting my xmas cheer back!!

Think I'll put it up friday night, might get some new baubles today or something to go in our garden.

Marne · 26/11/2012 11:32

It does seem to get earlier each year Smile, when we were kids it went up when school broke up (so 4 or 5 days before).

I might do some paper chains with dd2 but not put them up until next weekend.

I have bought 'Aurther Christmas' dvd so we can watch it next week after doing the tree.

IT'S NOT EVEN DECEMBER YET!

Yes, I know I'm shouting. It is far too early for Christmas trees. Satisfy the Christmas craving in other ways, like wrapping presents or making a Christmas cake or something, but for pity's sake leave the tree for a while longer.

I love Christmas, and hate having the intensity of the season diluted by it being longer. We go for cramming as much into the 2 weeks before Christmas as possible - much more fun when it's Christmassy every day!

D0oinMeCleanin · 26/11/2012 11:36

I'm going away on the 5th. My family are rebelling by putting the tree up while I am away. I normally manage to get them to put it off until at least the 12th.

DoubleMum · 26/11/2012 11:42

There's no law about when to put your tree up, it doesn't affect anyone else, put it up when you like!
We will likely put it up at the weekend as the following weekend we have visitors and wouldn't get round to it.

Everythingwillbeok · 26/11/2012 12:41

Mines going up next Sunday I'm picking a real one up from the garden centre Saturday night can't wait !!!! None of my neighbours trees start emerging till about the 10th but nevermind.ITS CHRISTMAS

pigsinmud · 26/11/2012 12:51

Second weekend of December for me - which sounds quite early this year as it's only the 8th. I like to have the tree up for the christmas play week for my young ones and christmas carol concert week for the older ones, which is the week beginning the 10th.

However, I heard a christmas song on the radio this morning and I thought it was too early. I really don't feel christmassy - it needs to get colder!

bondigidum · 26/11/2012 18:37

I haven't actually seen anyones up yet, just shops.

Ours go up on the 30th at night so DCs wake up on the 1st to find them and this is when Norbert the elf will be arriving too. There's no point doing it earlier than the 1st, no advent calendar! Ooh I sooo can't wait Grin

Doitnicelyplease · 26/11/2012 19:05

We get a real tree so put it up about 2 weeks before. However yesterday we did get some smaller decorations out and put some lights outside on the house (we are in north america everyone does it!) - it is pretty early for us but I wanted to get the advent stuff out in time for Sat and also we had a rare sunny weekend so seemed a good time to do it.

Time flies once we are into Dec so it is nice to be a bit organised!

KrisMoose · 26/11/2012 19:08

Put your tree up whenever it will make your family happy!

There are no rules and anyone that judges you for a Christmas tree is not the kind of person you want to give head-space to.

Mine is going up on Saturday. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

CherryMonster · 26/11/2012 19:09

nope! i havent even taken it out of the loft yet, will be doing that tomorrow but the tree wont actually go up until about 10 days before christmas as i still need to finish decorating the living room first. will put the rest of the decs up earlier than the tree, and the lights in the window.

InNeedOfBrandy · 26/11/2012 19:10

I'm doing it sunday!

InNeedOfBrandy · 26/11/2012 19:11

It's getting colder this weekend, frost is coming!
