Aussies - help!!! Gift for my nearly 12 year old niece

Any ideas what I could get for my Sydney-sider niece, who is nearly 12? She's fairly athletic, I was thinking along the lines of a "trendy" messenger bag or hoodie or bracelet or bag or some such, but I'm not confident that what's popular here in the uk will be popular down under. Any ideas?
