Do you wrap presents as you buy them or in one fell swoop? (Christmas Presents)

Just had a look in my wardrobe and there's loads of bags of the DC presents.

I need to get them wrapped before they start prying (they know my hiding space).
Usually I do a mammoth wrap on an evening a couple of weeks before Christmas (but I have done the sitting-on-the-kitchen-floor-on-Christmas-Eve before) Grin

I've got two different papers (huge rolls from Costco) so I don't need to label them. Then they can all get piled in the corner of the bedroom.

So what do you all do?

Do it all in one go, i am not that organised to buy early. usually bundle a load together or put in cheap giftbags

CherryMonster · 25/11/2012 20:06

i tend to wrap a few each night in december. gives me a good excuse to drink hot chocolate and eat mince pies every night.

Chottie · 25/11/2012 20:08

I do them all in one go, in the lounge, by the Christmas tree, with cheesy Christmas DVD playingGrin

One massive wrapping session with DH on a Saturday night in December, fortified by sloe gin, stollen and It's A Wonderful Life. Three different papers for the 3 DC. Much like you, really!

in one go. The time it takes me to find the sellotape alone would make wrapping as i buy a very pointless excercise.

Get some mulled wine on the go (non booze based this year as pg) & have a wrapping fest. I love it! Make the labels & get together all the bits & bobs - I recycle as much as poss - from October-ish onwards
Ah, I'll miss the mulled buzz this year Smile

I used to do all mine on christmas eve.

Now the dc are older and more likely to find them I do them as i go.

Does everyone else hide them until Christmas eve or do they go straight under the tree? Ive just seen a pic on fb of a friends tree with all her dcs pressies under it, stockings up and all. Wheres the fun in that?

I am feeling smug as I have done the majority of mine today, assisted by my DH, who seemed to get all the odd shaped things, whilst I was wrapping DVDs and boxed stuff! Usually do them when DH is out on his works Christmas do, so was nice to get it done in half the time - and in November! They are all in bags so I can see who has what so far and what else I need to buy. I will try and wrap the rest as I buy them as I hate leaving it till the last minute.

starfishmummy · 25/11/2012 20:17

We usually wrap as we need to depending on when we are seeing the people they are for.
Ds's get done on xmas eve.

fluffygal · 25/11/2012 20:24

I like to wrap once I have everything as I like to drag it all out and stare at it trying to work out if I need to buy more, if I have bought evenly for the kids etc.

PinkSoccerMum · 25/11/2012 20:30

I used to do it all on Christmas Eve until the year i was still up wrapping at 5am but last year I done it over a few nights leading up to Christmas Eve I am planning on doing that again in this year.

ArtyFartyQueen · 25/11/2012 20:32

I try and be organised and wrap pressies for the children and others but were always left with a big pile to wrap up (along with sticking fillers) in from of a film and some mulled wine on Christmas Eve!

iloveholidays · 25/11/2012 20:32

I usually do all mine with DP in one night a couple of days before Christmas. However I have a newborn this year who doesn't settle in the evenings so think I'll need to split it up a bit. Currently all in boxes on top of my wardrobe including a few bits for the build up (elf, Xmas books, DVD, activity books and art and craft sets) so planning to wrap all those bits this week so will be good to make a start.

I wait until the tree is up and decorated and all presents are bought, put some festive tubes on and then I'm in the mood for wrapping

maillotjaune · 25/11/2012 21:54

I do it over 2-3 days running up to Christmas eve. Nothing under the tree until children are in bed on Christmas eve - I have seen them poke and prod presents they have bought in the school surprise room until the paper was torn and that's when they know what it is because they chose it!

MrsChestyLaRue · 25/11/2012 22:02

I love a mammoth wrapping session, DH is usually present but doesn't help as he just does not do it right (I have Christmas OCD). Santa presents are usually away but all others get put under tree. This year thought its presents that need built or that breathe (fish) so can't really wrap! :)

I love the different paper idea! I always have different paper for Santa and for us so dc don't catch on but paper for each dc, brilliant. :)
