what clothes for 15 year old girls?

We live abroad, so no idea what's popular with teenagers in UK nowadays. I'd like to get my 15-year old niece some clothes for Christmas - she has a school trip to London next year, so something currently fashionable there. Any suggestions?

Watching with interest, totally non fashion understanding, soon to be 15 year old here.

It's a minefield! DD2 has just turned 16. She liikes Abercrombie and Fitch sweatshirts - the full zip ones. She's just bought a superdry gilet (£££££s). Hollister seems to be OK, if it's discreet branding only. She hates with a passion anything from Paul's Boutique. For general day to day shopping she likes New Look and H and M. I rarely buy her clothes unless she's with me. I do buy her pyjamas - either I get this right or because she's only wearing them to bed just pretends Wink

Tbh unless you know her taste very well, it would be very easy to get it wrong. Lots of teens like Hollister, A&F, Jack Wills etc but my dds would not be at all impressed by anything from there. You'll probably have people coming on here to rec Paul's Boutique but my dds would probably prefer to eat their own eyeballs than have anything from there. Agree with ChopChop that it's an absolute minefield.

You'd probably be safer with PJs, a fleece dressing gown and fluffy socks - all the teenage girls I know seem to like those!

Thanks for the recommendations so far. I often buy her clothes and so far she has liked everything I've brought her (judging by her Facebook photos) so I can probably find something she'd wear. Just don't want to get anything that is "like.. sooo last year.." in the UK.

What items have you been successful with in the past and would you be shopping on line?

HazleNutt · 25/11/2012 19:49

Different dresses and sweaters, but mostly US brands - nothing too peculiar, she would rather blend in than stand out. Yes, I would shop online.
