Seven year old boy...people?

Grandparents are asking for present ideas for ds who is seven.

Does anyone know of any toys that are a collection of 'people'...army, ninja, knight type things? He's got loads of Playmobil and lego and in both cases, it's really the people that he ends up playing with.

He's not long had his birthday and he got lots of lego and I don't want relatives to waste money on toys he won't really play with. Are there any Imaginext things that would appeal to a seven year old, or are they mainly for younger kids?

Any ideas appreciated (we're getting him Skylanders).

Not people as such but at that age DS loved GoGos. He cleared out a section of his cupbaord and arranged them in colour order into "GoGoLand" Hmm

They cost about £2 a packet I think or they do tins for about £10

Here

I agree about the Gogos - have a surprising amount of play value!

Moshlings similar.

Is he into Star Wars at all? Look at Star Wars fighter pods on amazon (or wherever - other online retailers are available) I thought these were a pile of you-know-what when they first got them but they (ds's are 5 6 and 8) all love them!

Someone mentioed Plastoy on another thread too - tubes of v detailed figures - definitely worth a look as they have quite different themes.

My 6 and a half year old is obsessed with star wars lego, star wars pod attacks, ninjago lego (lego ninjas) and Lego hero factory. The pod attacks are quite cool.

Mine have great fun with a selection of ELC Knights (although they are not robust), Playmobil and lego mini-figures, Go-goers (as we call them), and a bag of marbles. Lego Ninjagos and the Pokemon B&W figures (www.thetoyshop.com/Collectibles/Collectible-figures/Pokemon-Black-%26-White---4-Figure-Pack-Z/p/317875_Z) are also popular.

These ones

I'm led to believe by my nearly 7 year old that Trashies or Trash Pack are the new GoGo's or Moshies

Ds is 6 so a bit younger but likes moshis but mainly plays with star wars figures.

legalalien · 22/11/2012 14:57

Hmm - my 7 year old ds wouldn't like any of those, but you probably know your ds best! Mine is into football and would probably like some of those horrible topps footballer collectibles if asked. Or one of the hexbug nanos....

Wow, these are great answers, thanks everyone. He's not a Star Wars fan, but I think he'd really like those fighter pod things...just the kind of thing he likes. And the Plastoy tubes too. Has anyone seen them? Are the figures tiny?

We got given a load of Gogos from a friend and they were popular for a while, but it's not really lasted.
