I know it's been done before... but what does Santa bring?

Is it just the stocking, or the Big Present, or a lump of coal?

And can anyone remember that website last year where you put in your child's details and Santa sent a video clip to show if the child was on the good or naughty list?

Stocking and 1 or 2 special presents, not necessarily the Big one.

I've told my DS he can ask for 3 presents from Santa but no more or there won't be enough to go round all the children in the world. So any other presents he will know come from friends and family.

But he passes the details of the Christmas list in the letter to him on to the relevant people.

Santa brings the stocking and one main present so this year it's a baby for dd and a ds game for ds.

Ds writes 5 things on his letter to Santa - Santa gets one and tells other people what to buy but he may or may not get them all (this year he is)

Our presents got found by two very eager hide and seek players one year so now as it stands we buy the presents and send them out to FC who wraps them checks his lists to make sure they have been good and then delivers

One big present and a stocking in this house although I get really stressed out every year and worry I won't get my story straight! One year DH told DD that everything was from Father Christmas (including things clearly labelled Love Mummy and Daddy). Luckily she was too young to pick up on it!

Stockings are for little presents (choc coins/ satsuma/crayons/plastic dinosaur/supermarket t-shirt/socks etc). Big presents are always just from who they're from.

This is what always happened when I was growing up so I've just carried on in that vein. DS is 2 so he knows about Father Christmas now, but unfortunately has no concept of time, so is getting far too excited, far too early

Santa brings a stocking full of small toys and one large but inexpensive toy propped up beside the stocking (eg plastic sledge for £10 or giant yoga ball £5 which were a big hit!)

Main presents are from real people, so they grasp early on they can't have everything on their Lego Mindstorms for £1000 list.

Socking and anything else that is wrapped in Santa's special paper that won't fit in the stocking (that the DC must NEVER lay eyes on)!

Just the stocking in our house. You can leave a note for Santa on your stocking stating what kind of cereal you would like! (mum always puts in a tiny box of cereal, so she doesn't have to bother with breakfast!)

Stocking only here. The DCs write a letter to Santa, and he passes on ideas for presents to Granny and Grandad etc.

Santa brings stocking stuff but other presents are from whoever gives them and are thanked accordingly, which I think is important.

I don't give DC their main present from me until boxing day which prevents any confusion about who gave it to them.

Santa brings a big pressie and fills stockings - all other presents are from whoever they're from.

Think I might have messed up there, as ds1 now v suspicious of why no present from Mummy and Daddy

Dcs decided for themselves that you only ask for one gift; I added rule that Santa disapproves of overly greedy children (so no you can't ask for the £250 Lego Death Star "because it's free that way " - or a bloody puppy for that matter!!)

We are pretty vague with the dc to avoid being caught out but in our house we buy all the presents and send them to Santa or tell Santa what to buy/make and give him the money.

Santas main job is just to deliver the gifts and he usually leaves a "family" present (wii, board game etc)

Likewise the elves come and deliver a early present on Xmas eve of new pj's munchies and a new Xmas movie to watch Xmas night, Santa leaves this to thank the dc for being so good (Santa stretches the truth a lot I think )

I don't like the whole Santa paying for the gifts thing, some years we have been on our arses with money and the dc knew they would get less, also when we have more money the dc understand it's because someone has worked extra for it.

Santa fills the stockings and leaves the main present in our house :)

I just hope our DC don't start comparing notes and wondering why he seems to treat children so differently!

Forgot to add that elves bring the PJs on xmas eve here too. They also sometime leave other things too, like some choc coins if DC have been really good or tried hard at school the day before. Also as we have an activity advent calendar the elves sometimes leave bits to do with that e.g. craft bit for making decorations of cards. None of it is wrapped up type presents though, I think the story that elves left it came from trying to reinforce that they were around keeping an eye out for santa and knew what DC where up to all the time.

Santa brings everything in our house except presents from other family and friends. This is what happened when both DH and I were growing up so it didn't really occur to us to do anything different. We do a letter to Santa, but DS knows you can't ask for too much as Santa might be tempted just to leave a lump of coal if he thinks someone is too greedy. He also knows that Santa can only really fit one big present on his sleigh.

It never occurred to me when I believed in Santa that my parents didn't get me any Christmas presents and hopefully DS won't start asking either! I think I had the Santa thing sussed quite young though but kept quiet because I had younger siblings and just in case not believing meant you didn't get anything

In our house sant brings stocking bits and a couple presents (one main presents and a couple smaller things), mum and dad buy a few gifts and family buy gifts (we havn't got a huge family so only 1 or 2). Oh and sant brings a present for the dog too .
