Ideas for 5 year old boy?

I have 3 boys v close in age and we both have big families so they get tons of presents and I am totally stuck for ideas of what to buy ds3 (who is 5) for Christmas.

We already have absolutely tons of Lego (inc lots of Star Wars/Harry Potter/more general Lego) and quite a lot of Playmobil (campervan and swimming pool; castle and knights; pirate ship). Hexbug Nano sets were a huge hit for birthdays. He has a decent bike and scooter which should easily do him next summer (plus we are going to my brother's for Christmas which is 4 hours drive away, so a bike would be hard to conceal in the car ) We also have a puppet theatre, tons of dressing up stuff, EZFort...

Any ideas? We usually get the dcs one or two main pressies. Ds has no idea of value so no worries on that score I've asked him a couple of times what he wants for Christmas and each time what he's said has been a tiny stocking filler type item, bless him.

If he already has loads of stuff it seems pointless to get him more stuff for the sake of it. Can you put the money towards an activity instead - membership for local zoo/museum/farm park/National Trust type thing?

I know Meg but his brothers will both be opening presents to use straightaway and I think he would be really disappointed. I think we need at least a token toy.

Our 5 year old ds doesn't want anything either. We are going to make up a pack of different board games as he seems to be enjoying those now. Have requested theatre tickets from one uncle. Grandparents are getting a few small things (usbourne young adventures books, playfoam, dive sticks, craft stuff) so he has parcels. The rest of the money they want to spent will be passed to us quietly and will miraculously reappear for days out when the weather gets better again, ie ooh we could do that with the money granny gave you at Xmas!

We have requested that close relatives don't worry about the cost, as long as he has the same number of parcels as his sister he will be happy as no idea of the value of money

Oh horrid henry first reader books and horrid henry cd.

Games are a good idea - my 5yo loves Pop-Up Pirate and is getting Hungry Hippos this year, Orchard games like Greedy Gorilla are great too.

Craft/science kit - Science Museum do some good ones.

ds got a lego man torch last year & still loves it!

Camera is a good idea..even disposable one. My 5 yo is getting Mousetrap, spiderman/hero type guess who and star wars operation! (All board games) Also a lava lamp!!!

Our 5 yr old loves deadly 60 so top trumps and a book so far, also the new style connect four that you flip here

Still wants lots of Lego even though we have masses but they all love it so much

We are thinking of getting an air hockey table for us all to enjoy but they are all very expensive and rather big!

I am getting my four year old a portable cd player- I have seen one that you can also plug an I pod/ I phone into, and some CDs. Not expensive but still something a bit more substantial for Christmas day.

5 year old DS1 is also getting a CD/MP3 player and some CDs-he loves going to sleep with music on.
Also a Cars or Toy Story inflatable sofa thing for his bedroom.

Mine will be getting some lovely Viners kids cutlery. You could also get some nice plates / bowls / drinks bottles?

T shirts / PJs with favourite characters on?

My five year old also has everything.

Which cd players are you buying, please? It's a fantastic idea for my DS but all the ones I have looked at have had a lot of negative reviews.

I wish I could share good ideas but my son is autistic and has very idiosyncratic tastes. Extra music / stories at bedtime might well be a winner, so thank you

Remote control tarantula was totally loved by my DS last xmas, it dropped hair badly and the walking legs all fell off within 3 weeks!!! Don't go there!

I would say a Time teacher watch or a basic MP3 player that you can pile audio books and music on as my ideas :)

Do you have much imaginext Op? My 4 1/2 year old is getting the Batcave and there are lots of smaller toys that go with it.

Is he to old for Thomas the tank engine yet? DS loves the take and play sets more than the sodding wooden train set I lovingly collected for him and there are a few new ones out this year e.g the great quarry climb.

Ds has asked for a furby and the Lotso bear who talks and moves. These are his "big" things. He also has lots of these slime bug things that he can make and squash himself, a magic set, a microscope set, spy gear stuff, a marble run and a few other bits that I can remember. I have been buying all through the year!

Vigil - that looks like loads to me! Definitely not too little. Some good ideas here - DS1 is nearly 5. What is a good Star Wars Lego set to start off with? DS1 loves lego but doesn't have any star wars ones yet.

Audrina I haven't yet decided about the cd player-hovering between a Cars one, the Buzz Lightyear one and a basic cheap one with 50's styling and chrome shiny bits.

I bought a karaoke one last year with 2 microphones, but it didn't survive very long and it ATE batteries, so this year a mains adapter is a must.
