believing in Santa in yr 5 , is that unusual?

also talks about the tooth fairy..last 2 teeth (fairly recently) fairy left money and didn't take the teeth which he thought strange

My brother in year 4 still believes .. Not sure how much longer though as he says so and so said " santas not real" ( whispers lol)

Dd also in y5 completely believes in Santa as do a lot of her friends. She's currently a little peeved as the tooth fairy forgot last night probably because she went to bed after I did.

No not unusual! Our DD - 10 before Christmas - also believes. I wondered if she was just playing along with it for our benefit () but a few weeks ago she wanted to take the note that the tooth fairy had left her (in reply to a question that she had asked it) to show and tell at school!

I think we should embrace this year ggirl because it will be the last one surely!

My DS is 10 and also claims to believe. I think deep down he knows but is afraid there'll be no gifts if he admits it

my DD went through something similiar last year - I think she was just hedging her bets though.

My dd is in year 6 we had the conversation earlier on this year. She says there's a couple of girls in her year that still believe.

y6 dd here believes as well or says she does We had a wobble last year where she wasn't sure but has changed her mind again. She is 10 though i agree that this will probably be the last year, as if she is still believing but time she goes to secondary school I shall have to have a word.

My ds is 10 and other dc have said in school there is no santa. He told me this and was aghast! My ds is the eldest of 5 and all his younger siblings are talking about Santa all the time so that probably has an effect on him. I'm sure by the time my youngest is 10 it will be different for her. My ds is very much a child who has a great imagination, he loves wizards and magical stuff. I think the idea of Santa really appeals to his creative side.

DN believed until she was 11. Was shocked when she was told the truth by her parents.

My dd is in year 5 and has recently told me she knows he's not real, only because other kids in her class have told her, she still believes in the tooth fairy.

I told my DD at the end of year 6, because I didn't want her to be laughed at in secondary school. I just asked her if she was aware that it was actually me who did the stockings, Easter eggs etc. and she said yes, but sounded a bit upset! I think she really knew, but didn't want it to be confirmed!

dd is yr 6 and believes. more likely that she wants to believe tho. i'll leave her to it but i think this will be the last yr, as in secondary word's gonna go down!!

she's an only child sob. i like being father xmas.

I was having a laugh with DS (11) this morning where DS was telling me not to leave the stocking pressies in his room as one year when I did (before it was really his room) he found them in a ToysRUs bag ! Also there were years when things still had some identifying labels on or had previously been spotted in the Yellow Moon catalogue - so a host of challenges for any Santa helpers out there

But then we went on to joke about Santa getting stuck down the chimney and how he sends an elf ahead of him to push him back up if he gets stuck - also apparently they just lift the roof off all the houses to see straight away where all the stockings in the house are !
So, seems we're in a rather nice transitional phase ATM - not exactly pure belief but imagination still alive and kicking !

My 9yo says she believes and makes all the right noises ...I think she just wants to believe though to be honest.

I never want the magic to end and still believe myself!

DS is nearly 9 and appears to believe. He was dubious when he was 7 but seemed to have lost that by last year (or he is Very Good at pretending...)

My 8 yr old, yr 4 boy knew after last xmas

12 yo dd and 11 yo still seem to believe. i'm 34 a firm believer.

I believed til teens, then wavered for a few years. I believe again but realise I'm too old to get Santa to deliver to me. I believe in the wonderful idea though and the spirit.

And what if.....? I believe in lots of things I can neither see or explain. Not entirely sure if this is different...

I'm glad that they still believe in FC at 10. That's so lovely to read! Children grow up far too quickly these days and it's nice to have a bit of magic.

I hope I've got a good few years of Santa left yet. My eldest is five and youngest 21 months.

I clearly remember being in the classroom in last year of junior school. The teacher was talking about Christmas and about parents buying presents, then he stopped and said 'oh god sorry, none of you actually still believe in Santa do you?' Cue much hilarity and laughter...but not from me. I sat at desk gutted totally and utterly devastated. I cried when I told my younger brother-he laughed his arse off, said he'd known for years
