Can you give me ideas?

DD will be 8 months old at Christmas. DP and I have decided that we are not going to buy her lots of gifts but we would like to buy a classic toy (possibly wooden) for her 1st Christmas. We hope it will be something she will cherish and keep into adulthood. She already has a teddy bear and a rag doll, and I'm lacking inspiration!

Expensive but a wooden toy box with her name on it?

I really wanted one for ds but my dh said no

I'd get her a beautiful rattle or building blocks or similar. Never dates.

DD will be 3 this year and is inheriting my beautiful rocking horse. It's a lovely feeling to see it going to a new owner.

I think the rocking horse is a lovely idea. They never date, and they also don't look out of place in a decorative setting.

We bought each of ours a "treasure box" which is a beautifully carved expensive wooden box. They keep special things in it eg stamps from the year they were born, medals they have won, anything they would like to keep which is special to them. They have a look at them every Christmas Eve and they bring back loads of memories.

I love the box idea. Would anyone mind sharing where they got theirs from?

Thanks for your lovely suggestions. We are thinking about buying building blocks and then a rocking horse when DD is older. I have very few toys from my childhood so I'm going to encourage DD to keep significant ones and hopefully she will one day hand them on too.

How about a musical box ?

I am now completely spoilt for choice! I went to the imagination tree website, clicked on the wooden blocks and it took me to this site . I'm about to cut up my credit card
